Today’s Page Brief features characters from Dangerous Intent, Law and Protection, Book #1. Enjoy!

From time to time there’s multi-part Page Brief’s that go together. I think of it as a Page Brief Serial and I name them. The below Page Brief Serial Attraction Bulletins features the books at the time I wrote these Page Brief’s that were available in my Law and Protection series. Eventually when books are released in the Law and Protection series an Page Brief might be written and if it is it will be added to the Attraction Bulletins Page Brief Serial. So this Page Brief Serial is a continuous one (at my discretion/time permits).

Attraction Bulletins is a multi-part Page Brief Serial and best read in order for the most enjoyment. They are usually in order of the Law and Protection series for which they are written about (unless otherwise noted).

This might be a rough draft so excuse any typos and so on.

“You think I learned from the last time to not agree to do favors.” Darryl scowled.

“You do know every time you agree to a favor we go through the same thing. I think you just like to agree so you could complain. I’m on to you Mr. Ruane. And I have no sympathy for you.” Callie laughed in his face.

“You think the woman who loves me would be on my side.” Darryl pouted.

“I’m at your side literally. I’m standing right here to be supportive.” Callie smiled widely.

“You’re such a liar. You’re here literally by my side so you can get a good laugh at my expense.“ Darryl shook his head. “I’m glad that I can amuse you so much.”

“There has to be a reason I keep you around.” Callie winked. “Entertainment, stimulating all my senses, you’re a little bit violent and you make my body—“
“Woman you’re a little weird.” He pulled her close to him and kissed her on the side of the face. “And you do all those things to me to. I’m thinking we should blow off this favor and let our bodies speak to each other.”

“We’ll do that later.” Callie wiggled her eyebrows then snickered. “No way I’m letting you renege on this favor.”

“You’re so evil. Reveling in my pain, suffering and upcoming humiliation.” Darryl sighed loudly and long. “Fine let’s get this over with. I’m not doing anymore favors for anybody.”

“Until the next time somebody asks you.” Callie patted his shoulder. “You’re just a favor giving man.”

“Don’t think I don’t hear the sarcasm and suppressed snickering in your tone.”

“I was not hiding it. “Callie glanced at his face and started to chuckle.

She watched as he stormed off muttering to himself. Whatever he was saying, it was too low for her to hear but she could imagine. It would be something along the lines of him complaining about doing a favor for someone and never doing it again. How he’d been suckered into it when in reality he’d agreed. She’d been with him enough times when he agreed to favor to know what he had done.

Callie strolled behind him taking in the Singleton Summer Festival. This was sort of her first time attending. Now that she and a few of them were settling into Singleton, New York she’d started attending some of the things they had. As well as recognizing some of her fellow residents of the city.

Curiously she noted that she and Darryl were being followed. Usually in her line of work she would’ve found that suspicious and took care of the problem. But since they were in social settings she’d wait to see why Nathan Beckett, the mayor of Singleton as well as Morgan and Bella — who she knew — were following them. Although she kind of suspected why. Callie shook her head. She almost felt sorry for what was about to happen to Darryl. She hurried forward wanting to be the first. Callie lined up and waited for Darryl who had gone out of view.

“Callie, you do know being so eager especially when your man is involved is very telling.” Nathan chuckled. “This is something a lot of us have been looking forward to. For a long time. A long time.”

“Ever since he told me he agreed to this as a favor.” Callie turned slightly to face Nathan and noted the others Morgan and Bella as well as some others had joined him. “I’ve been practicing.” She faked pitching then looked at the long line behind Nathan. “And I bet I’m not the only one.”

Callie looked at the long line behind her. They all started to laugh.

“All of you suck. Suck. Suck. Suck.” Darryl chanted.

Callie faced him and saw him flipping everybody off. The long line of people heckled him. Darryl glared at them still flipping people off. He came to Callie then narrowed his eyes.

“Love of my life, holder of my soul, and keeper of my heart why has thou betrayed me so much.” Darryl pouted. “Really you want to be first.”

“Love of my life, holder of my soul, and keeper of my heart I have not betrayed thou. It is my duty as yours to be first.” She patted him on the cheek and gave him a kiss before pushing him towards the booth. “Now stop your stalling and get up there. You have a lot of folks who was ready for this.”

“I’m going to remember this. All of you are on my list.” Darryl scowled.

The line of people laughed and continued to heckle him. Darryl dragged his feet as he went towards the booth. Soon he was settled in and Callie threw the ball she had picked up and down.

“Get him good Callie.” The crowd behind her chanted.

“I’m really rethinking my love for you Callie.” Darryl rolled his eyes. “Not like you’re going to be able to hit me.”

“He’s really delusional. Doesn’t he remember what you do for living?” Nathan laughed. “You know what I’m willing to give up my turn to see you keep taking him down.”

Numerous people behind her in the line echoed the same thing.

“I’ll do as many as you all gift to me.” Callie pitched.

Darryl fell into the dunk tank swearing. Callie did a dance and others were joining in as they saw him go down.

“Payback.” Nathan danced throwing his hands in the air. “For all those times you avoided volunteering for this. God I love your tendency to agree to favors.”

“Conspiracy. It was a conspiracy to get me here. Betrayed by my own family, my woman and the city of Singleton.” Darryl soaking wet leaned over the tank. “All of you are on the list.”

“Get back up there. I have a lot of not being able to hit you to do.” Callie said sweetly.

The line of people laughed.

“No more favors.” Darryl vowed.

“Until the next time you are asked.” The crowd said.

Darryl flipped them off. Callie laughed. Darryl was hers and they had met because of a favor. She had a soft spot for favors but she wasn’t going to tell him that.
