Snapshot ~ Intentions Series

There are many ways I think of words. One is as a snapshot which forms a picture in your mind of what is on the page. With each of my series I’m sharing this with you…snapshot.

There are times what you intend isn’t what happens, especially when the heart gets involved. For our residents and visitors of McKingley, sometimes the best intentions expand into a passion that knows no bounds. Embracing their desires is not easy but when they do they will possibly find love that lasts forever. No matter where you come from…the road to enchantment leads to McKingley.

Page Notes ~ Simple Arrangement

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from Simple Arrangement, Intentions, Book #1. Enjoy.

“We’ve got to stop meeting like this,” Iona spoke behind him in her melodious smoky voice.

“Hopefully it tastes good.” Jackson glanced at her. “Go and continue the work you were doing.”

“Sounds like I am being told to get out of the kitchen.” Iona smiled. “Do you swear and mutter like Chandler when your cooking is aggravating you?”

“Nope.” Jackson pointed a finger. “Now go and let me cook.”

“Ahhh… So you’re one of those who doesn’t like others to watch them cook.”

“Yes.” Jackson grunted then said, “Why are you still here?” He smiled to show he was teasing.

“I’m going.” Iona stood and turned to leave.

“Iona—”

She paused and looked at him.

“I was looking forward to seeing how the knee socks looked against your skin.” Jackson glanced down her body then met her gaze. “But now I’m wondering what you have on under your housedress.”

Iona drew in a breath then ran her hands down the tie-dyed, short-sleeved sundress from her shoulder to almost the hem, where it rested just above her knee. She gripped the cloth then started to slowly lift it while looking at him. Jackson took a step toward her.

“You’ll just have to wait and see.” Iona pivoted then sauntered out of the room.

“Such a tease.”

“You know it, buddy,” Iona called, laughing.

Jackson’s laughter followed her as she left. Iona went back into the living room and sat again on the floor at the center table. She stretched before she got back to work. Iona rubbed her eyes then blinked as tiredness filled her. She yawned then leaned back against the couch. I’ll rest just a second then get back to it. She put her arm over her eyes and relaxed.

Iona woke, not sure how long she’d been asleep. She frowned as she felt the softness against her back. Touching by her side, she realized that she was lying on the couch.

“I took you off the floor.” Jackson spoke from the direction of her feet. “You didn’t look very comfortable as you were. You didn’t wake when I put you on the couch.”

She lifted her head and saw him standing at the arm of the chair, by her feet. “I didn’t know I was so tired. I’m usually a lighter sleeper. And I sure wouldn’t have slept through your moving me.”

“Dinner is ready. I have it ready to warm if you need some more time to work.” Jackson came around the couch and sat on the center table beside her open laptop.

“I might be doing some more work.” Iona sat up, moving so that her legs were on either side of his. She placed her hand on his upper thigh. “But it will be toward pleasure.”

She leaned nearer, eyes locked with his. Jackson moved forward to meet her and she closed her eyes as their lips met.

Page Brief ~ Letting Go

This is a Page Brief that’s new and never posted anywhere else. Yep new and never posted anywhere else. It’s being posted for the first time as part of the 2026 Book Birthday On My Birthday Tradition!

Today’s Page Brief features characters from Simple Arrangement, Intentions, Book #1. Enjoy!

From time to time there’s multi-part Page Brief’s that go together. I think of it as a Page Brief Serial and I name them. The below Page Brief Serial Unbound Enchantment features the books at the time I wrote these Page Brief’s that were available in my Intentions series. Eventually when books are released in the Intentions series an Page Brief might be written and if it is it will be added to the Unbound Enchantment Page Brief Serial. So this Page Brief Serial is a continuous one (at my discretion/time permits).

Unbound Enchantment is a multi-part Page Brief Serial and best read in order for the most enjoyment. They are usually in order of the Intentions series for which they are written about (unless otherwise noted).

This might be a rough draft so excuse any typos and so on.

Jackson watched her as she reached out with her hand then stopped herself. She clenched her fist and gritted her teeth. He stifled his smile as he watched her fight for control not to be in control.

“Don’t think I don’t see you over there eyeballing me.” Iona narrowed her eyes. “And I know you’re deliberately doing this to provoke me.”

Iona crossed her arms and tapped her foot. Jackson licked his lips watching her bare toes. Seeing her barefoot and for her relaxed made him want to take her somewhere to mess up some more. Iona was always so much in control. Except when he pushed her beyond that control. Which he took great pleasure in doing like he was doing now.

“You know I don’t hide it.” Jackson deliberately moved something out of place again. “I love when your eye starts twitching, your mouth furrows just so, your nose wrinkles and that epic scowl comes over that beautiful face. All of that just does something for me.”

“You know I should find it disturbing that you want to push me beyond my control.” Iona rolled her eyes. “Hell, you should find it disturbing you want to push me beyond my control.”

“Yet we both enjoy pushing buttons.” Jackson chuckled and again moved something.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw her step forward and reach then stopped herself. Jackson smiled at her widely wiggling his eyebrows as he moved something else. Iona narrowed her eyes and each of the things he said he loved she did. Staring her right in the eye he moved something else.

“Damn you Jackson.” Iona stepped forward pushing him out of the way and put everything he moved from earlier and recently back.

As she did he could see her shoulders relax. He stood back and let her go ahead with her fixing and fussing. Iona had been so tense since she had been preparing for today. Jackson didn’t see what was the big deal. It was just a friendly get together between some of their family and friends. They’ve had them before so he didn’t see why she was so tense.

Iona finished fixing everything back then let out a breath. “There now it’s fixed.” Iona shook her fist at him. “And you better not mess with it again.”

“I don’t know why you’re freaking out so much. It’s not like we’ve not had friends over before.” Jackson held up his hands and stepped back. “I’m not going to mess with anything… for now.”

“We have but this is the first time that it’s kind of a formal invite thing for us as a couple.” Iona ran her fingers through her hair. “I know I know we’ve had others before but I don’t know why today seems so different.”

“Happy anniversary Iona.” He pulled out the piece of paper from his pocket and gave it to her then walked away.

“It’s not our anniversary.” Iona called after him.

“It’s one of them.” Jackson replied as he continued toward the house. “I can’t believe you forgot. “

“Shit. He’s never going to let me live it down if I don’t remember one of our anniversaries.” Iona muttered then said. “You do know most people have like one anniversary. Not like a million of little ones.”

“One anniversary hah is for the weak.” Jackson said.

“You know you’re a weird man right.” Iona spoke coming towards him.

“Yep. And it’s why you love me.” Jackson paused and waited for her to join him by the door. “You have no idea what anniversary it is right.”

Iona shook her head.

“It’s the anniversary of first time of your letting go for me.”

Iona thought then smiled and leaned in to kiss him. “That’s a good anniversary to celebrate.”

Iona hurried into the house. She hated being late especially when she had plans with Jackson. They had both been so busy they hadn’t been able to spend much alone time. As she opened the door she cocked her head she noted the quite. Frowning she wondered where Jackson was. She had seen his car outside.

She closed the door put down her things before slipping off her shoes then heading into the house. The downstairs lights were off but she saw a faint light upstairs. Iona headed up the steps then made a right going down the hall. The bedroom door was partially closed and a low light spilled out. She went to it and pushed open the door. Iona stepped in then stopped as she spotted Jackson sprawled on the bed. He was sleeping. She smiled softly. Iona backed out the room then went to the bath and cleaned up then changed into something more comfortable. Soon she returned and then slid into the bed beside him.

Jackson jerked awake and stared at her. “Shit…sorry I fell asleep. I’ll go get ready the—“

“Shhh…I’m all comfortable and you’re all comfy to.” Iona slid closer to him and slid her leg between his. “Let’s change plans and instead of going out just have a quite night at home.”

Jackson smiled. “Sounds good to me.” He kissed her. “Binge watch Netflix?”

“Yup.” She snuggled in. “After a nap.”

“I can do a nap.” He placed his hand on her ass pulling her close.

Iona rested her head on his chest. She listened to his heart and couldn’t think of a better way to spend some time together. Just being together.

Garrick entered the house closing the door behind him. “Bailey.” He called and waited for an answer.

When none came he frowned. As far as he knew she was supposed to be home already. Hearing a sound he headed for the kitchen. When he arrived in the doorway he stopped. Bailey had her back to him as she wiggled her body then made an sultry sound. Knowing that sound he instantly went hard.

“Bailey.” He said again.

She didn’t reply. He frowned. Garrick approached her.

“Oh my God, it’s raspberry.” Bailey whimpered.

As he got closer he spotted what she had. A pastry made by her friend. He touched her shoulder. Bailey shrieked then turned and punched out and flipped him over her hip.

Ah…shit not again. Garrick hit the ground and his teeth clacked together.

Bailey lowered herself and drove her fist down. She stopped just before his face then blinked as she looked at him.

Garrick lifted an eyebrow.

Bailey pulled out the ear bud and smiled at him sheepishly. “Hey…I didn’t hear you come in.”

“We can tell no one about this.” Garrick rolled his eyes. “I’m just finally making people forget about the last time you put me on my ass.” He glanced toward where the pastries were on the counter. “If I recall pastry was involved then too.”

“It was.” Bailey laughed. “You really need to stop sneaking up on me.”

“I came in called out to you.” Garrick said. “That’s not sneaking.”

“I didn’t hear you because of the ear buds.” Bailey knelt and placed her hand on his chest. “Are you ok?”

“I’m going to need some Epsom Salt to soak.” He glared at her playfully. “A wild woman attacked me to defend her pastry.”

You should know better than getting between a woman and her pastries.’ Bailey laughed again. She leaned over and kissed him gently.

He opened and returned it.

“What the hell are you doing on the floor?” A familiar masculine voice asked.

Garrick groaned as he heard it. He forgotten he’d invited Tyr over. Bailey pulled back and laughed.

Garrick sat up. “I slipped on a banana peel.”

“I don’t see any.” Tyr shook his head. “Bailey you really need to stop throwing the man on the floor. Or at least make sure someone is around so we can get pictures as proof.”

“Next time I promise.” Bailey rose and went to Tyr hugging him.

“Hey…wait how the hell did you get into my house?” Garrick rose and stifled a groan.

“Indigo let me in.” Tyr replied.

“I didn’t know she was here.”

“She’s in the media room.” Bailey said. “I was making some tea and getting the pastries she brought.” Bailey smiled sheepishly. “I got distracted.”

“By eating them.” Garrick went to her and teased. He pulled her from Tyr.

“And putting you on your ass.”Tyr retorted then laughed. “Wait until the crew hears this one.” He left the kitchen laughing.

“I—“

Bailey kissed him. Garrick returned it and tasting the raspberry and chocolate he was reminded of how they meet. At least this time he got to taste the yummy pastry. It didn’t taste as good as kissing Bailey did. He held her close.
