Even as she said it Nolan knew why. She felt him. But that was impossible. Terri turned away and she looked at the men around her. Then she picked one and went to him. In moments the man was lost in dancing with Terri. Nolan shook her head. The guy had no clue. Terri would dance with him but she was as leery as Nolan was. Hell leerier.

He was at her back and Nolan didn’t turn. Instead she moved until she was pressed against him. She danced and Alec placed his hands on her hips and matched her move for move. Closing her eyes Nolan let herself get lost in the music. Alec’s scent filled her senses. He moved his hand and placed it over her stomach. Nolan clenched her thighs together heat flooding her. She bit her lips stifling a moan. Alec pressed against her back was such a temptation.

She turned whimpering as his hand trailed along her hip then settled on the small of her back. Lifting her head slightly she met his gaze. Alec lids were slightly hooded. Nolan placed her hands on his shoulders moving them up his silky shirt to the sides of his neck. She laced her fingers together behind his head. They moved to the side then back and against each other. Nolan breathed in and out enjoying the dance.

Alec lowered his head and put his face beside her ear. “You light up when you dance.” He lowered his voice. “When you’re ready, I am.”

Alec lifted his hands and removed hers from around his neck. He stepped back pivoted on his heels then walked away. Nolan watched him. She was really getting tired of seeing his back as he left.

Page Notes ~ Perfect Partner

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from Perfect Partner, Rowan, Book #7. Enjoy.

Lou also took her final bite of tart. She made a soft sound deep in her throat.

Sin lowered his utensil and stared as she licked her lips.

Lou glanced up at him and she looked startled then a small smile curled her lips. She placed her elbow on the table and put her palm under her chin cupping her cheek.

“Umm…yes I have.” Sin cleared his throat. “She’s good too.”

“So Sin, I’m not sleeping with you tonight. And won’t until I’m ready. I’ll tell you when.” Lou licked her lips again. “I would like to see you again. So would a movie say on Friday work for you? We can get dinner after. Also, give me your number and I’ll give you mine.”

“You’re very blunt.” Sin mimicked her leaning forward and cupping his own chin.

“Yes. Don’t believe in wasting time.” Lou studied him. “Some people find it disconcerting or off putting.”

“I find it refreshing.” Sin rubbed his other hand against the back of his neck. “Sure, movie and dinner on Friday would be fine. Will you pick me up or should I pick you up?”

“I’ll come to get you since I asked you on the date.” Lou reached out and touched his arm. “Next time, you can do the picking up and the date thing.”

“I also enjoy that you’re confident that there will be more dates.” Sin placed his hand over hers. “How about Saturday for our next date? We can go hiking along the trails then have a picnic lunch.”

“Sounds fine.” Lou sobered. “But first, you should know. If we continue this, it will only be physical. I don’t get emotionally involved.”

Sin frowned. “But you want us to date. Get to know each other before we take it any further.”

“Yes.” Lou shrugged. “I have to at least know something about you before I jump into bed. Also, if we do this, it will only be you and I. I don’t share.”

“I thought you didn’t like someone telling you what to do? Yet, here you are telling me what to do.” Sin wasn’t sure about what she was saying. It contradicted it only being physical, yet she wanted to date and from what she said, exclusively. He didn’t have a problem with that, but her words and actions made him feel confused. Lou was turning out to be an enigma and he couldn’t wait to unveil the layers that made her who she was.

“I’m not telling you. I’m letting you know what I accept and don’t accept. You can walk away or accept what I stated. It’s all your choice.” Lou stopped touching him.

Sin caught her hand and lifted it to his lips, kissing the back softly. Her breath caught and Sin smiled at the sight of her chest rising and falling. He lifted his gaze meeting hers. “I’m fine with your terms.” He paused. “And I’ll let you know mine as we proceed.”

Lou frowned. “Yours?”

“Yes. You told me what you wanted.” Sin lowered their hands to the table. “And when I know you better, I’ll let you know mine.”
“I might have other things to add too,” Lou said.

“Most definitely. “ Sin rubbed his finger along the back of her hand. “Since we are after all, getting to know each other so we can deepen the physical, we will be embarking on.” He stared at her then added, “So to be clear. We’re dating exclusively and this will only be physical with no emotional involvement.”

“Exactly.” Lou turned her hand under his and laced their fingers together. “Now I’m going to walk you to your SUV. I have an early day tomorrow and you probably do too.”

“Yes, I do.” Sin rose and picked up the dishes. “But first, I will clean up. Sit and relax while I do that.”

“A man who does dishes without being prodded to?” Lou leaned back and smiled.

“My ma and dad raised me well.” He winked and took up the rest of the items. He went into the kitchen and set what he had on the island, then retrieved the rest of what was left after their meal.

“There is a dishwasher.” She pointed at the appliance.

“Okay.” He went in and cleaned off the food before putting them in the machine.

Sin went back out to find Lou leaning against the pillar by the railing. He went over to her and placed his hand against the rail close to hers. Lou took his hand then led him back the way they had come earlier. Sin smiled. He was getting used to her leading him around. Touching him and acting like he was hers. Lou stopped beside his Tribeca. He opened the door then stood there waiting. Lou rocked back on her heels.

“One of my terms. I get to kiss you whenever I want to.” Sin reached for her and pulled her against his body.

Lou gasped then shivered as she moaned.

Sin smiled as he held her chin between his two fingers and lowered his head. He kept his gaze locked to hers and kissed her—deeply and thoroughly. His erection hardened as he took in Lou, enjoying the way she fit against him. Her eyes went unfocused then her lids fluttered close as she pressed her body against his. He shifted and rested his back against the side of the open door. Lou made the same sound like when she ate her dessert earlier. Sin stroked his tongue deep into her mouth. She suckled his tongue then raked her teeth gently along it. He shuddered his body getting even harder. Kissing her deeper, he groaned as a heated sensation overcame him. He wanted her now. He gripped her ass pulling her against him. Lou pressed along his body, rocking against him as she moaned. He fought for control and slowed, then softened their kiss. Sin pulled back.

Lou blinked, revealing her glazed amber eyes. They cleared and she again, studied him in that intent way again. “I’m gonna like getting to know you,” she said in a husky voice.

“Didn’t expect the day to go this way.” She smiled ruefully. “At least we got that drink.”

“Yeah.” He lifted his beer and took a drink as he stared over the bottle at her.

“And our first date.”

“Date?” He lowered the bottle.

“Yes.” She smiled at his shocked expression. “Or did you forget?”

“No but I didn’t think you would want to after the day we’ve had.”

“Life is short.” She thought of her goddaughter whose was done. “If you waited for a perfect moment or another time you never know what can happen.”

“True.” He lifted his beer. “To first dates.”

“First dates.” She clinked her bottle to his.

“And many more.”

“Yes.” She could agree with that.

She already knew she wanted to know more about this man. Joanna leaned back and studied him.

“Tell me more about the JD Robb series you mentioned earlier.” She took a drag of her beer.

“It’s a police procedural series set in the future.” Declan leaned back too. “The main heroine is a bad ass.”

She laughed knowing she would like that. She made a mental note to pick it up.

A few hours later she walked toward her door with Declan by her side. He’d seen her home and Zachary had done the same for Tyler. She hoped Tyler didn’t deck the man. She wasn’t sure what was going on between those two but whatever it was was volatile. Joanna opened the door and turned to face him. Declan stood watching her. She moved in and he did the same. They kissed and she pressed against him. Her heart raced as she tasted him. Declan was something she didn’t expect. Something she didn’t even know if she had time for.

Stop making excuses and just go along with it. She kissed him a moment more then pulled away.

“I’ll see you tomorrow.” She stepped back. “Goodnight Declan.”

“Night Joanna.” His voice was deeper.

She went inside and closed the door behind her. They would be working together but she knew that wouldn’t affect how she worked with him professionally. That she wasn’t concerned about. It was the personal she wondered where it would lead. She’d just have to see where it went.

“I asked around about you too.”

He took a bite of his sandwich and they enjoyed their meal in the serenity of the park. Dimitri nibbled on white seedless grapes and drank his cranberry juice. Shannon had indeed found out about him—he figured she’d got her information from Leo. Shannon closed the lunch sack after handing him a bag. He opened it and saw it was filled with Snickerdoodles—his favourite cookie. Dimitri removed one then bit into it—it tasted better than any he’d ever eaten.

“What brand is this? It’s delicious.”

“I made it. Will make more for dessert for our date.” Shannon smiled.

“If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were trying to romance me.” Dimitri pushed his shoulder against hers playfully.

“I am.” Shannon turned her head, her dark brown eyes serious, then she winked.

Dimitri chuckled and finished the cookie—keeping the bag to save the rest for later. Shannon rose and he followed her, taking her hand in his as they retraced their steps back to her vehicle.

“I enjoyed lunch. Do you want to meet again tomorrow?”

He didn’t even hesitate. “Yes. Same time.” Dimitri kissed her gently.

Shannon pressed against him then moved away.

“Tomorrow.” She got in her vehicle before honking her horn and driving away.

Dimitri stood on the kerb and watched her leave. At least now Saturday didn’t seem so far away.

Page Notes ~ Silk and Shadows

Veronica knew there must be some reasonable explanation for them floating above the ground, but she couldn’t seem to care. The first sound of his voice curled around her in a warm embrace. Somehow, his voice came across deeper than him speaking in her thoughts. It resonated through her, making her nipples pebble and her pussy spasm.

“Do you want this, Veronica Gunn?” His voice brushed her mind.

She knew then that she’d been wrong. His voice sounded more sensual and intimate in her mind, like a caress across her bare skin. She bit her lip to stifle a whimper. Lost in his gaze, she felt every inch of him against her–his fingers laced with hers, and the sound of silk billowing in the background. She knew what she wanted, and no matter how improbable it sounded that he was an elf, she didn’t care. Need overrode everything else, and Veronica wanted, just for this night, to let go as he’d said.

The sound of silk rippling became louder and more frantic. Zayne said nothing, but the pleasure gleaming in his eyes said it all. Suddenly, she felt the air rush past her, and the feel of silk brushed her skin. Shifting, she purred at the softness pressed against her back. Zayne pressed her hands back against the wall. Silk slid along her wrists. Glancing up, she saw two pieces detach from the billowing silken wall. Softly, they wrapped around her wrists and flowed down her arms. Tugging she realized they held her softly, but firmly. Strangely, she didn’t feel afraid, just extremely sexy. A hard body pressed against hers. Veronica glanced into heated icy green eyes.

Zayne leaned closer to her and covered her lips with his. Veronica stilled, expecting hunger and need. Instead, he made her weak with a tender, sensual kiss that sent her senses into overdrive. His tongue swept along her lips softly, looking for entrance. With a wanton moan she closed her eyes and opened her lips. The stroke of his tongue into her mouth was commanding. The sweet, decadent taste of him rolled over her. His scent filled her, musky and all man.

His hands ran up her arms covered by silk as he caged her between the wall and his hard body.

They came back and she waited to see who would be staying with her. Usually it was Cole and for that she was glad. Cole went out the door. Surprised she watched Mateo. His face was expressionless. She went toward the living room.

“Screw it.” Mateo said.

She looked at him askant. He stalked toward her and her pulse raced. Mateo pulled her into his body and stared into her eyes.

“I know from Sienna that Shane is one of your best friends but when he touches you I don’t like it.”

“I don’t like jealous men.” She went to pull away.

“I’m not jealous. I want it to be me.” He leaned his head down and spoke by her ear. “I want it to be me able to touch you. Touch you like you are mine.”

She inhaled and his scent of sandalwood and male filled her senses. Rene’s heart raced, palms dampened and she wanted him.

“What are you waiting for?” Rene stared into his darkened gaze. “Do you need an engraved invitation?”

He just stared at her with those green eyes that had darkened. Rene bit her lip then licked it. He followed the movement with his gaze. Then met her eyes again.

“What do you want from me damn it?”

“Everything.” Mateo stated. “This isn’t a one offs. I want more than that.”

“We just met how do you even know that?”

“I’ve known you for weeks.” He smiled softly. “You making a pest of yourself about your sister’s case. And keep asking for info on what was going on.” He paused then. “I saw you with her and the others. I know enough. The rest is the trappings of getting to know someone even more. That can come later.” He stared then. “Before I touch you. Before we do this, you must decide because I sure as hell know once will not be enough.”

Rene shivered and didn’t need to decide. She already knew.

“Take me.”

He smiled and it made anticipation fill her. Mateo pulled her against him then kissed her. She was ready for hard and deep but he gave her soft and slow. Opening she went under enjoying the taste of him. The feel of him against her. She wanted more. Skin against skin and hopefully a horizontal service.

Mateo lifted her and she wrapped her legs around him.

Asher approached him and stopped.

Terrance’s gaze remained unwavering.

“Thought you weren’t coming.” She lifted her glass of champagne.

“I’m here for a dance.” He also took a drink from his glass.

She laughed.

He stared. “You should do that more often.”

“Laugh?” She wrinkled her nose.

“And that.” He smirked. “Makes you endearing.”

“I’ve never been called that before.” She moved to stand beside him. Viewing the room, she noted the people milling around and socializing. She spotted Jameson and his lovely wife. “I spoke to your business partner earlier.” She inclined her head toward him.

“One of them.” Terrance took another drink. “Have a few of us, I backed Jameson when he started. We’re more like silent partners. At least until we leave the game, then we find something to do in the company he built.”

“That’s smart, how you all invested. And that you’re able to find something you all like to do within the company.”

“Jameson is a smart man.” He chuckled. “He diversified and has the business in many things. So there is something for everyone.”

“Sounds like it.” Asher leaned against the wall. “I find it fascinating what he did.” She lowered her glass to her side. “And his technology division is enticing. I’m intrigued.” She turned and faced him. “Do you mix business with pleasure?”

“Not usually.” Terrance frowned. “Why?”

“I don’t usually either.” She licked her lips. “But in this case, I’m willing to. But if you don’t, then I’ll forgo the consulting I decided to do at your company.”

“Huh.” Terrance stared at her now. “You’re willing to walk away from something tech related for a chance to get to know me better?”

“Have sex with you. Yeah. I don’t need to get to know you for that.” She stared at his lips.

“Oh no…this won’t be just once.” Terrance reached for her.

Asher slid her hand into his. “Okay.” She didn’t think it would be either. But she didn’t have anything to go by. She was usually better with machines and science than people.

“We will get to know each other,” Terrance said firmly. “And I’m good with sex. I’ll risk mixing business with pleasure also.”

“Good.” She moved closer. “So when?”

“When what?”

“Sex.” She moved even closer. “When can we have sex?”

Terrance’s eyes darkened and he slid his hand up her arm. “As soon as we find someplace we can be alone.”

Page Notes ~ Just Business

Chailyn frowned. “Would you like an appetizer? Dinner will be ready in a few minutes.”

She reached forward onto the fancy glass table in front of the couch to pick up the tray of various finger foods. Mitchell watched as she reseated herself further away from him. Her startled exclamation didn’t stop him as he took the tray from her and put it back down.

He turned to face her and he frowned at the leery look she was giving him. “Why are you so jumpy around me?”

Chailyn blew out a breath then. “I’m attracted to you and I know it’s a bad idea. We’re working on this project together but we’re competitors. That means after this we go back to that and us being involved it can get messy.”

Mitchell smiled. “I’m attracted too.” He studied her lips. “And messy can be good.” He sobered.

“But not in business. I don’t do that in business. But from what I have seen from the last few weeks and heard about you through the years we have been competitors you let business be business. So, I don’t see a problem with that. We keep what is business just business and what we have here as personal.”

Chailyn studied him then her lids partially lowered over those captivating eyes. “Just Business for business. And personal for this. I can do that.”

He hardened at that look. Then again, he was always turned on when he was near her. That was not like him. He’d been around many beautiful women but there was something about Chailyn that made him want more. He had no idea what but was willing to find out.

“Good.” Mitchell paused. “And the first personal.”

He leaned down and kissed her. The taste of her for the first time was even better than he imagined. She moved closer and Mitchell pulled her into him. She fit against him and he moaned at the feel of her against him. They kissed lazily and he moved closer but stopped. He wanted to know her first before anything else. Mitchell gentled the kiss and pulled back looking into those glazed eyes. He smoothed his hand down her cheeks then took another quick kiss before sitting back.

“So now that is out the way.” He smiled. “Tell me something personal.”

“I could tell you what I’m thinking in my personal thoughts.” Chailyn wiggled her eyebrows.

Mitchell laughed. She made him laugh too. The woman was turning out to be a very pleasing distraction. One he didn’t mind at all. To think a few weeks ago he was cursing her name for becoming part of the project. Now he enjoyed working on it with her.

“Let’s start slow.”

She muttered something too low for him to catch.

“Slow is overrated.”

He stood in the middle, unsure of what to make. Opening his freezer, he nodded at the sight of some frozen pizza. It had been a while since he’d had that and it would do. Once he’d turned on the oven, he pulled out the pizza and placed it on a cookie sheet.

While waiting for it to heat, he went and set the table.

“Dining on the fine china, I see,” Deyon spoke from the doorway.

He looked at the paper plates sitting on the table and nodded. “You got it. Nothing but the best for my girl.”

She wrapped her arms around him. “Is that what I am, Leonardo? Your girl?”

He rotated so they were face to face. “Have I not made that clear yet?”

She gave him a sassy grin. “Sometimes we like to hear it more than once.”

They watched Jeopardy! as they ate, having forgone the table to eat on the couch. They played along with the contestants on the TV. Leo won in the end but only because he’d wagered more on final than she had.

“You’re ruthless,” she said.

Readjusting himself on the couch so he could see more of her, he swirled the rest of his wine in the glass before drinking it. “Yes. I can admit it. I like to win.”

She pointed a finger at him. “So do I, just so you know. Don’t get used to it.”

He grinned at the challenge and said, “We’ll see.”

She sipped her own drink then shrugged. “We’ll see how well you do when the stakes are higher. Like strip Jeopardy.”

He almost choked. “Strip Jeopardy?”

“Sure. What you’ve never played?”

“You have?” One eyebrow rose when he asked that question.

“My turn to ask the questions, Sheriff. Besides, you can turn any game into strip whatever, so long as you have the requirements.”

“And those would be?”

She leaned closer and swiped her tongue over her lips. “Willing participants.” Deyon moved back to her original spot.

“And I think we have those, unless I’m mistaken.”

God, she was a tease. “Oh no. We have willing participants.”

“Good. Then that’s all we need.”

Christ, he was ready now. “So, tell me. Have you played it before?”

She got to her feet and flashed him a sexy smile. “Wouldn’t you like to know.”

Yes, he would. She went to the kitchen and came back with a plate of cookies.

“Hmm?” She bit into one and moaned in bliss, which nearly derailed his thought.

“Answer me.”

Page Notes ~ Pure Harmony

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from Pure Harmony, McKingley, Book #4. Enjoy.

She was alone, as far as he could tell, and unaware of his presence. Her long, thick black hair hung down to the middle of her back, clasped at the base of her neck by a simple barrette. She wore a long-sleeved coral shirt that complemented her skin tone. She moved in time with her playing.
Captivated, he continued closer until her face was clear. It was her. He’d never forget her face. The smooth skin, delicate features and large eyes framed by doubly thick curled lashes. She was slender with a tiny waist and breasts that, he recalled, fitted so perfectly in his hands.
He knew when she noticed she was no longer alone—her fingers faltered and eventually she halted playing. Her dark brown eyes flashed with reminiscent passion before it faded and her gaze cooled. A flush skated up her cheeks, though.

“That was beautiful,” he said, ignoring the powerful impulse to touch her.

Her cheeks reddened further. “Thank you.” She ducked her head. “What are you doing here?”

Not the issue at hand for him. “You left.” He fought a chill from the ice in her eyes. Then, like the passion, it vanished to leave behind a blank slate. His gaze moved to her hands, which remained on the keys, then back to her face. The signs were there. Blatant and obvious. She was about to bolt. He moved closer and watched her eyes grow wider.

“Harmony,” he said, her name falling familiarly from his lips.

“Excuse me, Jonathon. I must go.”

He reached out for her arm. She stilled beneath his touch. “Wait.”

He wasn’t sure but he’d been unable to get this woman out of his mind since their one date and night of shared passion. Jon felt a bit out of control and it disturbed him. He liked neat, orderly, controlled situations. Even in the courtroom, he was always as prepared as he could be to ensure surprise didn’t take him. She unsettled him, rattled him, but damn it, she visited him every single night in his dreams. Now he had her, he didn’t want to let her go.

“Let me take you to dinner.” When she hesitated, he added, “We’ve been out before.”

Her flush told him she recalled exactly what had happened on that date. How it had ended up—clothes strewn all over the floor and moans the only sounds in the room.

“Now, if you can leave.” His phone buzzed in his pocket and he ignored it.

Her soft, lyrical voice had the power to make him crazy with lust. He stared as she got to her feet and slid the bench in under the piano. She wore charcoal grey slacks that hugged her hips. As he observed her, he noticed she allowed her right hand to be swallowed up by her sleeve until just her unpolished nails were visible.

He waited for her to gather her stuff and walked slightly behind her as she made her way up to the door. Close enough so the gentle scent of gardenia could be smelt and far enough to ogle the natural, seductive sway of her hips.

They paused at the door leading outside and stared at the continuing downpour. He grumbled under his breath—getting soaked and ruining his suit were not in the plans of the day. He slanted a glance at Harmony and noticed the sparkle in her eyes as she gazed out over the campus.

“Perhaps we should wait it out,” he suggested.

Silent, she led the way to a small sitting area. He claimed the chair across from her. He couldn’t take his eyes from her.

“You’re staring,” she mumbled.

“I’m sorry. I can’t seem to help myself. You look so different than you did…that night.”

A small smile lifted one side of her mouth. “Teaching a music class is hardly the place to wear a cocktail dress.”

He grinned broadly. Perhaps not, but she’d looked damn good in it. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming to McKingley to teach?”

She pursed her lips and glanced up when thunder rocked the building. “When exactly would I have done that? During our bidding war over the vase? Or after, in your hotel room?”

He flashed an arrogant grin. “So you do remember.”

Her brown eyes narrowed. “What are you doing here?”

Stretching out his legs, he made sure to touch her foot with his, craving the physical contact.

“I was here giving lectures all day. Over at the law building.”

“That’s right, you mentioned something about being an attorney.”

He was pleased she remembered. “Yes. How long have you been teaching music?”

She tensed, her entire body did. Her right hand completely disappeared inside her sleeve. Not for long, but he did notice.

“About a year or so.”

There was a story there. “Why were you so determined to get the vase?”

Her eyes sparked and he realised he’d just erred. Grievously. “Just because I’m not a lawyer doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate fine things.”
