Reese blocked Jermaine as he went for the basket. He grunted as they clashed and swiped the ball. He dribbled backwards then as Jermaine came at him jumped and took the shot. The ball arched then went in and whooshed into the basket.

Reese landed back on his feet then pumped his fist. “Nothing but net.”

“Really.” Jermaine stared at him.

“What?”

“You’re so corny.” Jermaine shook his head. “I don’t know how Jazz puts up with you.”

“I could tell you.” Reese smiled wickedly.

“No.” Jermaine said loudly then in a normal tone. “Dude, that’s my younger sister.”

“Twin sister and only eight minutes apart. And more importantly my future wife.” Reese stared at him. “You do know we have sex right.”

“Now I need bleach for my brain.” Jermaine grimaced. “I don’t know that I don’t want to know. As far as I am concerned you’re both reading books when you spend time together.”

“Books.” Reese blinked.

“Books are good.” Jermaine said. “They are an escape and so much fun.”

“Yeah so is sex.”

“Books.” Jermaine yelled.

He went and got the ball. Jermaine turned and threw it at him. Reese caught it and dribbled it again.

“So you want me to call sex, books.”

“Yes.” Jermaine came and stood before him. “For my sanity. Hell all of her siblings sanity.”

“You all are so weird.” Reese moved.

Jermaine blocked him then countered taking the ball. Reese went after him they battled back and forth for it.

“Ohh…nothing like men playing basketball.” Jasmine said.

Distracted Reese turned to look at her. She stood beside the court in yellow shorts and a tank top.

“In your face.” Jermaine said.

Reese glanced at him and saw him dunk the ball. He rolled his eyes then went over to Jasmine. She met him and they kissed.

“Come on none of that in basketball.” Jermaine said close behind them.

Reese released her and laughed. Jasmine winked.

“How about I play you instead.” Jasmine said to Jermaine.

“It’s been so long do you even remember how.” Jermaine teased.

“Big words.” Jasmine gaze sharpened.

Recognizing that competitive gleam Reese almost felt sorry for Jermaine. Almost. He went and sat on the sidelines to watch the siblings square off against each other. Jermaine dribbled the ball back and forth laughing.

“Give me a sec.” Jasmine said.

She came to Reese then lowered herself into his lap. She kissed him then pulled back staring into his eyes.

“I’m gonna kick Jermaine’s ass then we’re going home to…”

“Books.” Jermaine yelled.

“Is he still with that?” Jasmine laughed.

“You know about that?”

“Yeah seems like he and the other siblings got together and agreed it would be called books.” Jasmine shook her head. “Crazy fools.”

She rose. “I was bout to say Reese and I would go home and have a nice dinner and quite night.” Jasmine pushed at Jermaine. “Not everything is about sex.”

“Books.” Jermaine said and smiled.

“Such dork.”

“Takes one to know one.” Jermaine chuckled.

“Yeah.” Jasmine stole the ball then made a drive to the basket. She jumped and dunked it.

She landed turned to Jermaine and lifted and eyebrow. “That’s net.”

“Ohhh… so afraid of you.…Not.” Jermaine went to her.

Reese relaxed back and watched one of his best friends and his future wife play basketball.

Syn glanced around the club. Visually she noted the patrons were all having a good time. She reached out mentally to ensure there was no issues. Finding none she smiled. Then she sought him out mentally but when she couldn’t sense him Syn frowned. Where the hell was Micah? She knew he was here somewhere since they had arrived earlier together. Yet he was blocking her for some reason.

Suddenly she felt a sensation she knew so well and she smiled. Turning Syn stepped forward and Micah detached from the wall and took her into his arms.

“Dance for me.” He whispered.

Syn smiled remembering that first night so long ago that she had done the same thing. At the time she was just letting lose not expecting to find him yet she had. She stepped back then rotating her hips she let the music sweep her away. She lifted her hands over her head and moved. She rolled her hips in time with the music then smiled at him.

Micah stood watching as he had all those years ago. As it had the intensity of his rich lavender gaze caught her. Syn breathed out and his scent filled her senses. She beckoned him to her. Micah moved forward already dancing. The carnal power of his movements made her breath catch. As he came to her Syn knew she would never again forget that moment their eyes met across the floor.

Humming along with the radio playing Jazz stood before the stove watching as the kettle boiled. She rocked in place then belted out.

“Just Stay.” She rolled her hips then stepped back and closed her eyes.

She laid her hand on her belly and moved slow and deliberate to the lyrics of Stay by Sugarland. As she moved the music took her and she felt each word deep in her soul.

She twirled then lifted on her toes before going low then moving sensuously.

Suddenly she sensed him without even hearing a sound. Jazz smiled softly then moved even slower. She breathed out then in as she moved with the music.

When he touched her she gasped surprised since she hadn’t heard him move. She relaxed still moving as he pulled her against his large frame. Jazz sighed as they fit together so perfectly. He moved with her and she rocked her hips against him. Moaning as she felt his bulge.

She opened her eyes and met those familiar eyes. The desire in them made her inhale sharply. Reese smiled that sexy grin that always made her want him…hell he only needed to be near and she wanted him.

Reese held her leading her around the room as the song winded down. When it reached the crescendo he grabbed her and lifted her holding onto her leg against his hip as he turned. She laughed in delight then held onto him as he slid her along the floor then dipped her.

Reese stared at her. “You’re so sexy when you dance.”

“You too.” She licked her lips. “Come on and dance with me.”

“I think we just did that.” Reese rose lifting her upright.

“Dance of the horizontal variety.” Jazz grabbed his hand and pulled him behind her.

“I love that kind of dancing.” He came beside her and placed his hand on her waist.

“Me too. Although we don’t actually need to be horizontal.” She stopped and kissed him deeply.

Stephen stretched then looked at the time and winced. He was going to be late and he hated being late. He picked up the phone to call Vanessa. A knock on the door made him look up. He set the phone down then rose.

“Vanessa.” He smiled watching her stride in.

“Figured you’d get caught up in paperwork so bringing food to you for a change. “ Vanessa held up the bag she had brought and came around the desk. “Now I know that you have food here and your day chef may get offended.” She paused then. “Don’t tell Tobias either. I wanted to surprise you so didn’t call them.”

“I won’t tell. “ He paused. “Maybe. What you gonna give me to not tell?”

“Ohhh..bribery is against the law.” She stopped beside him and set the bag on the desk. “Hmmm…I’m going to think of something.”

She lifted her head and he met her kissing her gently. Vanessa placed her hands on his chest. They pulled back and stared into each other’s eyes.

“Busy day.” She wasn’t asking.

“Yeah.” Stephen slid his hands around his waist. “I was looking forward to a break and seeing you. Thought I would need to cancel.”

“I came to you instead.” Vanessa smiled. “Let’s eat and tell each other about our days.”

“Sounds good to me.” He kissed her again and thought of how great it was to have her here.

“How do you get yourself into this sort of thing?” The words were followed by a groan.

Sinclair braced himself not knowing what he was about to find. A small smile curled his lips. Being in love with a woman who was accident prone was never boring. As he came out of the house, he stopped then blinked sure he was seeing things.

“This is your fault Sampson.” Lou said.

Sampson hung his head as if sorry while Delilah comforted him. Sinclair walked across the porch then shook his head.

“How am I going to explain this to Doc Sin?” Lou sighed. “You all are messing up my streak of no accidents. Wait he doesn’t need to know. I’m not hurt so it’s good.”

“Louisa.” Sinclair tried not to laugh.

From where she lay Lou groaned and put her arm over her eyes. “If we’re real still maybe he won’t see us.”
Sampson and Delilah looked at him going very still. Sinclair chuckled as he walked towards them. He sat crossing his legs under him on the ground next to Lou.

“Shame on you for teaching them to lie to their daddy.” Sinclair winked. “Let me guess what happened. You were playing with Delilah and Sampson was mad you weren’t playing with him.”

“Awww…you love my kids.” Lou rolled her eyes. “You think you’re funny.”

“Reminds me of how we met.” Sinclair smoothed her hair back from her face. “If I recall you called me Doc Sin at that time even though you didn’t know my name yet.”

Lou smiled softly. “Yeah. You looked so damn sexy and sinful.”

“And you were all cute as you tried to defend Sampson for the cut you had.” Sinclair looked at Sampson. “I thought we talked about this. Be patient. You’ll get your turn.”

Sampson hung his head. Delilah rubbed her head against his in sympathy.

“You’re so hot when you get all lecturey with them.”

“Not that it does any good.” Sinclair sighed. “They don’t listen.”

“Well for a bull and cow it’s amazing that they stand still long enough for you to lecture them.” Lou lifted her arm from over her eyes. “They probably are wondering what the hell you’re saying. I did tell you when we meet, they don’t like people much, so they won’t listen to you. Although they like you now. Listening to you…well don’t get your hopes up.”

“Why is it when I talked to them, they don’t understand but when you do they understand you.” Sinclair frowned.

“I’ve been talking bull and cow longer than you have.” Lou smiled at him. “I’m fine. Really. No injuries.”

“This time.” Sinclair studied the woman who had captured his heart. “What am I going to do with Lou?”

“The same thing I do with you, “she reached for his hand and kissed his knuckles. “Love each other. And in my case love my animals, my quirkiness, and so on.”

“In my case put up with my well you know what.” Sinclair looked at Sampson and Delilah. “Not a word out of you two.”

“I just love that you have taken on my habit of talking to them.” She laughed.

Sinclair chuckled and leaned over. She lifted her head and met him as he kissed her. He ran his hands down her body checking her for any injuries. When he didn’t hear her make any sound of pain he pulled her up and against him. Lou maneuvered herself until she was sitting in his lap.

She pulled away. “No kissing Sampson.”

Sinclair turned his head and jerked slightly at the bull in his face. He could swear Sampson was smiling.

He narrowed his eyes. “Are you trying to block me?”

Sampson lifted his lip.

“Keep it up and I won’t play with you.” Sinclair warned.

Sampson blew out a breath as if aggravated then moved back.

“See he does listen to you.” Lou kissed him on the cheek.

Sinclair focused on her. “So, it’s selective listening. Got it. Now let’s go play with them.”

“But I wanted to…” Lou pouted.

“Do you remember what happened last time when we left before playing with Sampson?”

Lou winced. “The bastard brooded and pouted. It’s not pretty when a bull broods and pouts.”

“Nope. And he kept supposedly accidently tripping me.” Sinclair glared at the bull. “I know it was intentional. He blamed me for distracting you.”

“It’s okay your made up.”

“After I bribed him. I’m not getting on his bull list again.” Sinclair said.

Lou stared at him then started to laugh. Ignoring her Sinclair helped her stand before he rose to join her.

“Let’s get playful with them.” He smirked. “Then we can go and have our own playful.”

Lou smiled. They went to Sampson and Delilah. Sinclair laced his fingers with hers.

Lissa pulled the last tray out of her oven. She turned and set it on the kitchen island then went back to the other pastries she was already working on. They were cool so now she could finish the process.

“Something smells good.”

She jumped slightly and put her hand over her chest. “Damn. You scared me.” She turned and walked over to him. She smacked him lightly in the chest. “I told you about that.”

“Sorry I thought you heard the door.” Cole slid his arms around her. “Now you’d think there’d be another way you’d greet me.”

“Just because you’ve been on a case doesn’t mean I missed you.” Lissa partially lowered her eyelids. “Who are your again?”

“The man who you can’t live without.” Cole teased. “The one who you love beyond all reasons.”

“Hmmm…there is some inkling dawning of who you might be.” She blinked innocently.

“Woman, stop giving me a hard time.” Cole hugged her tighter. “Do you need a taste tester?”

“Man, my giving you a hard time keeps me happy.” Lissa hugged him back, “Yes. But first.” She slid her hand behind his neck and pulled into her kissing him deeply.

She stepped back and walked away.

“Woman, you can’t kiss me like that and walk away.” Cole blew out a breath. “I missed you.”

She stopped and smiled. “I missed you too.” She turned and held out her hand. “Come and let me feed you.”

“I love your love language.” Cole took her hand.

“Food fills the soul.” She led him towards the island.

He took a seat on the opposite side from the stove. Lissa stepped close to him and cupped his cheek. She studied him. She didn’t like how he looked.

“You look so tired.” She kissed him softly. “When do you need to go back?”

Cole had been working a case. There had been no leads for a while then suddenly they had one. With that lead they had to do stakeouts, work long hours and eventually just stayed at the station bunking there. She hadn’t seen him in weeks. He had texted and called when he could. But she’d missed seeing him every day. Although her bakery had been busy as well as her having a few events it hadn’t distracted her from him not being there.

“I don’t.”

“You caught them.” She hugged him. “That’s great.”

“She finally made a mistake.” Cole looked fierce. “Justice for the deceased is a good thing but it still won’t bring them back.”

His sad expression tugged at her heart. Lissa held him. He leaned his head against hers. His familiar scent of sandalwood and vanilla filled her. Silent she rubbed her hands up and down his back. After a but he pulled back. His deep blue eyes were intense. He seemed to see everything. She smoothed back his blonde hair that framed his arresting face that was all angles and panes.

“No there’s not a way to bring them back but you got them justice. And any of their loved ones will know that.” She cupped his cheek again. “I’m going to feed you then put you to bed. You’re going to sleep for a while and not do anything else.”

“I love when you get all bossy,” he chuckled. “and take care of me.”

“You don’t know how to relax.” She glared at him. “I’m determined that you will learn. I love my lazy weekends and you will start enjoying them with me.”

“Ahhhh, that’s what you been trying to do.” He laughed. “Your subtle ways of trying to get me to relax and be lazy weren’t working.”

“I realize that which is why I’m not going to do subtle anymore and go for a sledgehammer between your eyes.” She smirked. “No more weekends of your planning things for us to do. You had us so busy doing this or that. From now on we’re going to be spontaneous. If we don’t want to do anything we won’t. If we want to do something or go out, we will. But chilling will be in there. Naps, good food and so on.”

Cole nodded. “I’d like that.”

Lissa hugged him. “You better. Although this isn’t the weekend this will be a prelude to chilling.”

Cole kissed her then pushed her away. “Feed me then put me to bed. I have a prelude to chilling to enjoy.”

Lissa chuckled as she went to the refrigerator. They both would enjoy the prelude to chilling and each other.

“Are you a jogger or a runner or a photojogger or biker?” Michelle demanded.

David looked up from his ereader and blinked. “Why do I feel like I came into the middle or end of a conversation?”

“Just answer the question. I need to know if I need to get you a bike and photography equipment or jogging or running gear?” Michelle looked at her phone and texted.

“Again. I have no idea what you’re talking about.” David laughed.

Michelle eyed him. “Have you not checked your texts?”

“I’ve been reading.” David lifted his ereader.

“You you do tend to block everything else out when you are.” Michelle gestured. “Read the texts so you can get caught up.”

She perched on the arm of the chair he was sitting. David pulled her into his lap before he picked up his cell phone. She waited while he caught up on the texts that had been going back and forth.

“So let me get this straight. In addition to all the other things like the anniversary competition thing, bread, music, books, oatmeal, games and so on. There’s now a runner, jogger, photojogger or bilker thing.” David laughed. “For those people who don’t like to exercise, do they even realize biking is exercise?”

Michelle showed him the other thread of texts that were being exchanged. David read then laughed so hard until tears were rolling down his face.

“So they are aware that the joggers and runners were trying to be sneaky to make them exercise. And they are already plotting payback. Although they do like the idea of biking and know it will be fun.” David shook his head. “The people we know are priceless.”

“You mean weird.”

“Unique in their idiosyncrasies.”

“That’s a polite way of saying weird.” Michelle rolled her eyes. “Or using a hundred dollar word when a one cent word would do.”

“Or I do it since I love to see you get that little furrow between your eyes.” David kissed her between the eyes.

“You’re such a sap.”

“Only for you.” David snuggled her. “As for your earlier question. I know you don’t do traditional exercise. But in my case I like to be flexible. So I’ll rotate between the two. So when we go looking for bikes and photo equipment for me and you. I’ll also get some jogging or running stuff also so I can do either based on my mood.”

“Sounds good to me.” She kissed him on the cheek. “And I’m glad you know I don’t do traditional exercise.”

“The way you run around doing all that stuff for your career.” He snuggled her closer. “I get tired just looking at you. But biking, photojog, running or jogging can be a good pastime.”

“Don’t forget the heckling.” Michelle cackled. “I have some doozies I’m already thinking of.”

“I figured that’s what incentivized you.” David chuckled. “Whichever it is I’m with you forever.”

“With you forever.” Michelle leaned against him as she pulled up the first suggestion. “There are things available here in Rowan we can check out. But there is some links I found interesting.”

David held her as they planned.

First a little history of a sort….

I’ve been writing Page Brief’s for a long time. For more on what a Page Brief is go Page Brief!

As I’ve been writing these I’ve always planned to combine them into a book…well a few books. 😉 These are part of my ongoing thanks and to show appreciation to readers. 🙂

So…I’m finally combining the various Page Brief’s into a few different books. The series name will be Page Brief. There’ll be…well various books which will be done based on the series/books the Page Brief is done for. LOL. Since there’s so many there’s a few different books. Also for any books/series that’s co- written with my alter ego it’ll be a combined book.

The Page Brief’s range in…

– posted before for events/guest posts
– posted before on my blog/site or so on.
– posted exclusively in my group only
– posted exclusively in newsletter only
– never before posted

Basically the Page Brief’s are a mixture. 😉 Some you might have read before and others might be new to you. Many maybe new to you since I write these fairly often and I haven’t shared them anywhere. Until now (when I release the book/books).

Page Brief are one of my happy things I love to do. Either way when I combine them into book/books you’ll get them. 🙂

To make it easier…well for me and for you. For now the plan is when I’ve gotten them together based on the series they’ll be the Page Brief Series which includes the name of the series. Also inside will be the Page Brief Serial name when applicable. So it’s well…easier. LOL. It will be noted together for ease of reading. 🙂

The Page Brief Series and Page Brief Serial is combined this way – in a book based on the series – so you can read based on which books/series that I’ve written you enjoy reading. 😉

In each book for the Page Brief Series the Page Brief Serial will go together as noted. If there’s any more Page Brief’s written in future (ie after a new book is released or if I feel like writing about a book published) in those instances I’ll include it for easier readability in the book where applicable. So basically there’ll be updates as I write more Page Brief’s as applicable.

I enjoy doing Page Brief’s . It’s my sneaky way of continuing with the characters after their book ends. This is at my discretion and as time permits when I’ll add to Page Brief. I usually use books/series that’s already been published. As more books are released from my various series I might write a Page Brief for them also. 🙂 Then add to the book for the series it’s part of.

Since this is labor of love. It’ll take time for me to do this. I did want to share with you I’m doing this. Sort of a tease for you and something to look forward to. But…I don’t have a timeframe when the Page Brief’s will be available. Also some series at this time doesn’t have enough books out. So not enough Page Brief’s to get a book yet. 😉 So I’m working on series that do have books and Page Brief’s so they can be a book. 🙂

Many of my most recent or current Page Brief’s are posted to my newsletter subscribers. They get the Exclusive 1st read of the Page Brief’s. There are times they get them before it’s posted anywhere else. Some of the Page Brief’s are exclusive and aren’t posted anywhere else (sometimes…maybe years later I might release them but that doesn’t always happen). They are just for my newsletter subscribers and eventually…maybe in the Page Brief book for whichever series it’s for.

By the way the series name for these overall for these will be Page Brief and each book will have the name of the Page Brief Series.

Once I start releasing the Page Brief series I’ll let you all know! As mentioned it will take me time to do them. Tentatively I will have a release in the Page Brief series before/by the end of this year ~ 2026!
