Stepping outside the doorway of the building that housed her offices Chailyn was so relieved the day was finish. She paused and inhaled the crisp day. At least this time she wasn’t leaving when it was already dark outside.

“Chailyn.” That familiar baritone called to her.

“Mitchell.” Chailyn turned towards him.

Surprised yet pleased she watched as he came towards her. As always the way he moved was sexy and captured her attention. Mitchell stopped just before her and kissed her gently. Then he cupped her cheek.

“Caught you just in time.” Mitchell said. “Come with me.”

She didn’t even ask any questions just followed him to his vehicle. Mitchell opened her door and settled her in the seat before going around to the driver side. In moments he had them on their way.

“I know you’re tired. But instead of heading straight home I figured we could spend some time just being together.” Mitchell said as he drove.

Chailyn recognized the area he was heading to. “Sounds good to me.”

She settled into the seat. They talk to as he drove about random things. Soon when he parked, they got out, and strolling holding hands.

“Are you hungry?” Mitchell asked.

“Not yet.” Chailyn glanced at the various food trucks around the area. “We can grab something later.”

Mitchell nodded. They continue to the entrance of Riverside Falls Park. The park had many entrances you could enter based on which direction you came from. Rowan had many parks around the city and although there were others close to where her offices were located she knew why he had picked this one. They chatted as they strolled and before long she heard the first notes. As they entered the open area Chailyn noted there were quite a few people here.

She waved to a few people she or they knew. Mitchell gestured for her to wait a moment then he went over to one of their friends and retrieved something. When he returned Chailyn noticed it was a blanket. He led her a little bit away from the others before spreading the blanket on the ground. Mitchell helped her sit before settling beside her.

“So you were planning this?” She leaned against him. “How did you… You know what never mind. I’m sure somebody in the office spilled the beans that I was leaving.”

“I have my sources.” Mitchell chuckled softly. “We’ve been saying for weeks we wanted to come to one of these days but we haven’t gotten around to it. I didn’t want us to miss that so here we are.”

“This wasn’t what I had planned for today.” Chailyn squeezed his hand. “But it’s so much better.”

Mitchell made a soft sound and hugged her against his side. Chailyn relaxed against him as they listen to the music. As she listened Chailyn was grateful for this man who had just spontaneously brought her here.

“Let’s make a pact.” Chailyn laced her fingers with his. “That we won’t put off things like this. When we say we’re going to do it we’ll make time and plans.”

“I’m good with that.” Mitchell lifted their joined hands and kissed them. “So that’s the pact.”

“The pact.” Chailyn kissed they joined hands before turning her head and kissing him.

Jackson watched her as she reached out with her hand then stopped herself. She clenched her fist and gritted her teeth. He stifled his smile as he watched her fight for control not to be in control.

“Don’t think I don’t see you over there eyeballing me.” Iona narrowed her eyes. “And I know you’re deliberately doing this to provoke me.”

Iona crossed her arms and tapped her foot. Jackson licked his lips watching her bare toes. Seeing her barefoot and for her relaxed made him want to take her somewhere to mess up some more. Iona was always so much in control. Except when he pushed her beyond that control. Which he took great pleasure in doing like he was doing now.

“You know I don’t hide it.” Jackson deliberately moved something out of place again. “I love when your eye starts twitching, your mouth furrows just so, your nose wrinkles and that epic scowl comes over that beautiful face. All of that just does something for me.”

“You know I should find it disturbing that you want to push me beyond my control.” Iona rolled her eyes. “Hell, you should find it disturbing you want to push me beyond my control.”

“Yet we both enjoy pushing buttons.” Jackson chuckled and again moved something.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw her step forward and reach then stopped herself. Jackson smiled at her widely wiggling his eyebrows as he moved something else. Iona narrowed her eyes and each of the things he said he loved she did. Staring her right in the eye he moved something else.

“Damn you Jackson.” Iona stepped forward pushing him out of the way and put everything he moved from earlier and recently back.

As she did he could see her shoulders relax. He stood back and let her go ahead with her fixing and fussing. Iona had been so tense since she had been preparing for today. Jackson didn’t see what was the big deal. It was just a friendly get together between some of their family and friends. They’ve had them before so he didn’t see why she was so tense.

Iona finished fixing everything back then let out a breath. “There now it’s fixed.” Iona shook her fist at him. “And you better not mess with it again.”

“I don’t know why you’re freaking out so much. It’s not like we’ve not had friends over before.” Jackson held up his hands and stepped back. “I’m not going to mess with anything… for now.”

“We have but this is the first time that it’s kind of a formal invite thing for us as a couple.” Iona ran her fingers through her hair. “I know I know we’ve had others before but I don’t know why today seems so different.”

“Happy anniversary Iona.” He pulled out the piece of paper from his pocket and gave it to her then walked away.

“It’s not our anniversary.” Iona called after him.

“It’s one of them.” Jackson replied as he continued toward the house. “I can’t believe you forgot. “

“Shit. He’s never going to let me live it down if I don’t remember one of our anniversaries.” Iona muttered then said. “You do know most people have like one anniversary. Not like a million of little ones.”

“One anniversary hah is for the weak.” Jackson said.

“You know you’re a weird man right.” Iona spoke coming towards him.

“Yep. And it’s why you love me.” Jackson paused and waited for her to join him by the door. “You have no idea what anniversary it is right.”

Iona shook her head.

“It’s the anniversary of first time of your letting go for me.”

Iona thought then smiled and leaned in to kiss him. “That’s a good anniversary to celebrate.”

“Yep I’ve lost my mind. There’s no other explanation for why I’m up this early getting ready to host the monthly day of fun for the Kincaid sisters and their siblings, as well as Cassandra’s other siblings.” Calhoun glanced around at the setup he was making. “What happened to me?”

“Someone’s being dramatic.” Cassandra patted him on the back as she passed with more snacks.

“I blame you.” Calhoun crossed his arms over his chest and frowned. “You’re the one who’s done this to me. Made me this social person.”

“Don’t act like you don’t have things you do.” Cassandra turned to him and matched his pose. “Do we need to talk about the last time we hosted game night? After you volunteered us to be added to the rotation without consulting with me first.” She tapped her finger against her lips. “Also doing the same for movie night. What were you thinking man?”

“I got swept up. It’s not my fault. They suckered me into it.” Calhoun ran his hands through his hair. “You do one thing and then they suck you in.” He made the motions with his hands. “You know they are really competitive with the game night. And let’s not get started on the movie night folks.”

“Hmmm… I have no idea what competitive on a game night would look like.” Cassandra rolled her eyes.

“Okay okay I’ll give you the game night one.” Calhoun thought of the past days of fun they had hosted, attended or heard about. He shuddered. “I’m not even going to go there about your family.”

The monthly day of fun they had was all about connecting as a family with lots of fun things, eating and just being together. Many times….all the time it dissolved into competitiveness and many vowed never to take part again. But whenever they had one at whoever was hosting for the month people who could attend showed up. It grew as people became involved and became a couple like he had with Cassandra

“You better hope where we fall in the rotation doesn’t overlap in the same month. Or we’ll be hosting a few things in the same month.” Cassandra narrowed her eyes. “And one of those would be the movie night.”

“Fine. I should never let myself suckered in to the movie night. You think it would be the game night where they would get rowdy.” Calhoun sighed. “They do get rowdy for the game night. But it’s nothing like the movie night.” He shuddered again. “Some of the stories we’ve heard can’t be true can they.”

“It goes according to what you’ve heard. I know what we heard together and dude it’s… Wow.” Cassandra walked over to him and poked him in the chest. “There’s even a few video someplace around about the epic debates they’ve had about movies.” Cassandra blew out a breath. “What happened to me? I blame you.”

Calhoun stared at her as she returned his look. Then they started to laugh and held onto each other.

“Oh my God were an interesting influence on each other.” Cassandra wiped her eyes.
“We are. We’ll never be the same.” Calhoun smiled. “And I’m good with that.” He kissed her.

Cassandra retuned the kiss then pulled back. “Me too. Don’t volunteer us for stuff without discussing it with me first.” She warned.

“Ummm….starting from now.” Calhoun winced.

“What did you do?” Cassandra growled.

“I love you so much Cass. You have until the Christmas to come to terms with it.” Calhoun walked away quickly.

“You didn’t. I love you too but that’s not going to help you.” Cassandra words and tone spelled doom for him.

Although it did Calhoun couldn’t help but snicker. They would never be the same but at least they’d be together. In all the interesting moments of life.

“Do you want some honey in your tea?” Jasmine coughed as the popcorn she had just put in her mouth went the wrong way.

She looked at Reese and noted the slight smirk on his face. She knew he was silently laughing at her.

“You know it’s your fault I can never look at Honey the same.”

“Me. I’m not the one who grabbed the bottle of honey. Then did wicked things with it.” Reese chuckled and looked fondly at the bottle of honey he held. “I wonder how many honeys we’ve went through using it for purposes other than it was intended. “

Jasmine glanced back at the TV where the movie they were watching was paused. She wasn’t going to admit anything. The way they used that honey the first time was one of her fondest memory.

“Jazz,” Reese came closer. “Your face. You’ve been keeping track.” Reese chuckled and the sensual way made her ache. “You have to tell me what’s the count.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Jasmine gestured towards the TV. “Just make our drinks so we can continue with the movie.”

Reese studied her but thankfully didn’t push or say anything else before he retreated to the kitchen. Jasmine blew out a breath relieved. Yeah it was sentimental and hot but she kept track of their honey usage. She enjoyed it in her tea but didn’t count that. It was a naughty times she kept track of.

She ran her hand down her chest between her breasts. She blew out another breath. She needed to calm down or they’d never make it through their ritual movie night. Since they had gotten together as a couple it had changed from monthly to every weekend. And she loved it. Being with her friend had changed so much between them for the better.

Reese returned with her tea with her usual cinnamon and honey in it. Jasmine shifted on the couch not even having to smell the honey to get turned on even more. She was turned on before he even mentioned the honey. Reese didn’t say a word as he restarted the movie. He sipped from his own drink seeming oblivious.

Jasmine couldn’t stop glancing at Reese sitting next to her on the couch. She had to keep reminding herself they were watching movies. Their ritual of movies and food was fun and usually not sexual tension filled. Jasmine narrowed her eyes suspicious.

“Hey you’ve never offered me tea before when you went to get us drinks during a movie.”

“True.” Reese calmly sipped his drink. “While I went to the kitchen to make us drinks I was feeling a little sentimental when I spotted the bottle of honey.” Reese grinned roguishly. “So I decided to try a little honey temptation.”

“You’re so naughty.” Jasmine leaned against him.

“Also true.” Reese kissed her forehead. “But wicked is putting the bottle a honey next to the bed. I have all intentions of convincing you to tell me what count we’re up to.”

“I might let you convince me with a little honey temptation.” Jasmine picked up her tea then leaned against him again.

“You think I learned from the last time to not agree to do favors.” Darryl scowled.

“You do know every time you agree to a favor we go through the same thing. I think you just like to agree so you could complain. I’m on to you Mr. Ruane. And I have no sympathy for you.” Callie laughed in his face.

“You think the woman who loves me would be on my side.” Darryl pouted.

“I’m at your side literally. I’m standing right here to be supportive.” Callie smiled widely.

“You’re such a liar. You’re here literally by my side so you can get a good laugh at my expense.“ Darryl shook his head. “I’m glad that I can amuse you so much.”

“There has to be a reason I keep you around.” Callie winked. “Entertainment, stimulating all my senses, you’re a little bit violent and you make my body—“
“Woman you’re a little weird.” He pulled her close to him and kissed her on the side of the face. “And you do all those things to me to. I’m thinking we should blow off this favor and let our bodies speak to each other.”

“We’ll do that later.” Callie wiggled her eyebrows then snickered. “No way I’m letting you renege on this favor.”

“You’re so evil. Reveling in my pain, suffering and upcoming humiliation.” Darryl sighed loudly and long. “Fine let’s get this over with. I’m not doing anymore favors for anybody.”

“Until the next time somebody asks you.” Callie patted his shoulder. “You’re just a favor giving man.”

“Don’t think I don’t hear the sarcasm and suppressed snickering in your tone.”

“I was not hiding it. “Callie glanced at his face and started to chuckle.

She watched as he stormed off muttering to himself. Whatever he was saying, it was too low for her to hear but she could imagine. It would be something along the lines of him complaining about doing a favor for someone and never doing it again. How he’d been suckered into it when in reality he’d agreed. She’d been with him enough times when he agreed to favor to know what he had done.

Callie strolled behind him taking in the Singleton Summer Festival. This was sort of her first time attending. Now that she and a few of them were settling into Singleton, New York she’d started attending some of the things they had. As well as recognizing some of her fellow residents of the city.

Curiously she noted that she and Darryl were being followed. Usually in her line of work she would’ve found that suspicious and took care of the problem. But since they were in social settings she’d wait to see why Nathan Beckett, the mayor of Singleton as well as Morgan and Bella — who she knew — were following them. Although she kind of suspected why. Callie shook her head. She almost felt sorry for what was about to happen to Darryl. She hurried forward wanting to be the first. Callie lined up and waited for Darryl who had gone out of view.

“Callie, you do know being so eager especially when your man is involved is very telling.” Nathan chuckled. “This is something a lot of us have been looking forward to. For a long time. A long time.”

“Ever since he told me he agreed to this as a favor.” Callie turned slightly to face Nathan and noted the others Morgan and Bella as well as some others had joined him. “I’ve been practicing.” She faked pitching then looked at the long line behind Nathan. “And I bet I’m not the only one.”

Callie looked at the long line behind her. They all started to laugh.

“All of you suck. Suck. Suck. Suck.” Darryl chanted.

Callie faced him and saw him flipping everybody off. The long line of people heckled him. Darryl glared at them still flipping people off. He came to Callie then narrowed his eyes.

“Love of my life, holder of my soul, and keeper of my heart why has thou betrayed me so much.” Darryl pouted. “Really you want to be first.”

“Love of my life, holder of my soul, and keeper of my heart I have not betrayed thou. It is my duty as yours to be first.” She patted him on the cheek and gave him a kiss before pushing him towards the booth. “Now stop your stalling and get up there. You have a lot of folks who was ready for this.”

“I’m going to remember this. All of you are on my list.” Darryl scowled.

The line of people laughed and continued to heckle him. Darryl dragged his feet as he went towards the booth. Soon he was settled in and Callie threw the ball she had picked up and down.

“Get him good Callie.” The crowd behind her chanted.

“I’m really rethinking my love for you Callie.” Darryl rolled his eyes. “Not like you’re going to be able to hit me.”

“He’s really delusional. Doesn’t he remember what you do for living?” Nathan laughed. “You know what I’m willing to give up my turn to see you keep taking him down.”

Numerous people behind her in the line echoed the same thing.

“I’ll do as many as you all gift to me.” Callie pitched.

Darryl fell into the dunk tank swearing. Callie did a dance and others were joining in as they saw him go down.

“Payback.” Nathan danced throwing his hands in the air. “For all those times you avoided volunteering for this. God I love your tendency to agree to favors.”

“Conspiracy. It was a conspiracy to get me here. Betrayed by my own family, my woman and the city of Singleton.” Darryl soaking wet leaned over the tank. “All of you are on the list.”

“Get back up there. I have a lot of not being able to hit you to do.” Callie said sweetly.

The line of people laughed.

“No more favors.” Darryl vowed.

“Until the next time you are asked.” The crowd said.

Darryl flipped them off. Callie laughed. Darryl was hers and they had met because of a favor. She had a soft spot for favors but she wasn’t going to tell him that.

Jameson frowned not liking what he was seeing that was happening. He went to back out but Tiana glanced at him.

“No.”

At her one word his shoulders slumped knowing he was caught. He shuffled forward dragging his feet. He really wanted to get out of this. Tiana patted next to her and he knew he was doomed. He sat and sighed loudly.

“You promised to watch these with me.” Tiana pointed out.

“It was a moment of weakness or insanity.” Jameson crossed his arms over his chest. “Any man wouldn’t want to watch this with you.”

“Stop your pouting.” Tiana kissed his gently. “You’re sexier than him. And I love you.”

“But you ogle him and make all these noises.” Jameson said. “It’s a little disconcerting how you get.”

“Like how you get with one of your favorite movies.” Tiana lifted her eyebrow. “Do we need to talk about the last time we watched Lady Hawke or Pretty Woman?”

“We agreed never to discuss it.” Jameson cleared his throat. “Let’s get this torture started.”

“And you agreed to be enthusiastic and not make any snarky comments.” Tiana stared at him.

“Yay for our Jason Statham Transporter movies binge-watching.” Jameson waved his hands.

“Snark masked as enthusiasm.” Tiana snorted.

“You’re enjoying torturing me.” Jameson said. “Until you I loved these movies. Now because of your not so casual way you act when you see him and these movies I’m…”

“Still love them but like to mess with me acting like you don’t.” Tiana rolled her eyes.

Jameson didn’t say a word. He wasn’t about to feed her not so casual movie fascination. Tiana laughed and snuggled into him.

“I’m gonna remember this when we are watching some of your favorite movies.” She poked him in the side.

“That’s fine.” Jameson took her hand and kissed her fingertips. “And I’ll remind you to be enthusiastic and no snarky comments.”

“That’s fine.” She smiled. “Let’s both agree we have a not so casual way with things we enjoy.”

“True. Like how you get about music-”

She cut him off. “Let’s not go there. You should know better than to mess with a woman’s playlist.”

He laughed. Her reaction had been worth it.

“You just do these things to get a rise out of me.”

“Yep.” He agreed. “You get the sexiest not so casual look.” Jameson kissed her on the tip of her nose.

“You’re so strange.” She wrinkled her nose.

“Yep.” He chuckled. “Now are you starting the movie or can I escape. Run for the hills. Run like my ass is on fire.”

She clicked on movie and rested against him.

“I guess there’s no running.” Jameson said.

“Maybe I just want to be close to the man I love. The man who will watch these awesome movies with me with enthusiasm and no snark.” Tiana smirked.

“None. Yay for movie time.” Jameson deadpanned.

Tiana laughed. They settled in to enjoy the movie.

Shay glanced around her area and was pleased at the displays. She’d as usual gone all out to display her flowers from her shop Exotic in the best possible way. The arrangement were fabulous. She also had flowers people could make their arrangements with as well as accessories, vases and lots of other things.

“This is very interesting.” Mikhail spoke from beside her. “And you say this is done every year. Why have I never heard of it?”

“I’m surprised that you hadn’t. The Legend Cove Farmers Market and More is a highly sought after and is well known. Getting a spot is also very tough. Until I found out about the special things for Legend Cove I had no idea how popular it was. From what I learned it’s not just this realm but many realms that take part. After visiting your realm I recognized some of the beings there from being part of this event before.” she eyed many of the other beings she had been oblivious to before she got with Mikhail and had been brought in to the truth about Legend Cove. “I’m not sure why you didn’t know. And now that I know there’s much more to see than what I usually do. I’m eager to explore even more this year.”

“Since I’ve never heard of this before I’m looking forward to it to.” Mikhail touched her arm. “From what you’ve told me you’ve been getting a space here for many years.”

“Yes.” Shay didn’t want to sound smug but she was proud of that. “Exotic is one of the vendors that many seek out. I usually do well over the entire time the Legend Cove Farmers Market and More runs for the year. After they close down when it gets colder they create a sort of indoor version but it has a different name. I usually get a spot in that one to. It brings in more business to Exotic.”

“I’m so proud of you Shay.” Mikhail kissed her gently.

“Thanks. It’ll be a few hours before I can get free to go explore.” Shay smiled. “Why don’t you go do some exploration on your own?”

“No,” Mikhail shook his head. “I want to see it for the first time with you. I’ll help you here.” Mikhail flexed. “Maybe I should remove my shirt to bring in customers.”

“Yes…no.” Shay cleared her throat. “You’re mine. I don’t want to share all your manly goodness with anyone else.” She poked him in the side. “Besides we don’t want you to get arrested for the stampede you would cause. Not to mention you would piss off the other vendors.”

“I like hearing that possessive tone of yours.” Mikhail winked. “So how can I help?”

“When I start getting people you can assist with filling their orders. Be friendly…” She eyed him. “Not too friendly because you know I don’t share. Be friendlyish and if we get a rush just talk to people. Make them comfortable so they want to buy. We’ll have help from the other employees from my business. We rotate so we have coverage here and at Exotic.”

“You can count on me.” Mikhail nodded

“I know.” She squeezed his hand. “With all we’ve been through so far you been there for me. You can count on me.”

“Of course and I know I can count on you.” Mikhail smirked. “We’re going to outsell everyone here.”

Shay laughed. She knew that Mikhail had a competitive streak. It was going to be fun seeing him unleashed on this mixed crowd.

Tashana reclined on the blanket in her backyard. She appreciated the silence. It’d been a busy few weeks and she needed time to herself.

“Pssstttt.”

She glanced at where the sound came from. When she spotted him she smiled at how he was trying to be all incognito. It was so not his way.

She wasn’t in the mood to move or yell so he could hear her where he was across the yard.

“Why are you disturbing me?” She spoke in his mind.

“So we can escape before someone comes looking for us.” Sanjay came toward her.

The effortless power of his movements made her breath catch. No matter how long they were together she would always desire him.

“I’m not hiding to do what I plan for today. You know my plan for today. Relax.” Tashana settled against the blanket. “This blanket and I have a date. A serious one to get to know each other better.”

Sanjay lay down beside her and cupped her cheek. “It’s been a few weeks of chaos.”

“Don’t remind me.” She leaned against his hand cupping her cheek. “I swear none of them has any sense. Why do they want to create such chaos?”

“They are pain in the asses.” Sanjay sighed. “Navigating so many egos is a delicate balance.”

“Give me a rip-roaring fight any day than political bullshit.” Tashana blew out breath. “No discussing the chaos. At least not today. Today is about relaxing.”

“You think you’ll get that here.” Sanjay sounded doubtful.

Tashana knew why. There had been chaos but also boundaries being ignored.

“They now understand boundaries.” Tashana smiled and knew it was evil.

“What did you do?”

She ignored his suspiciousness. “Just explained what it is, they needed to abide by it and so on.”

Sanjay still didn’t look convinced.

“Fine. A few threats and examples of those threats were given.” Tashana chuckled. “Some believed me but others not so much. But in the end I got my point across to respect boundaries.”

“That’s good.” Sanjay sighed. “They really need to learn to work together.”

“Yep. But it’s like they don’t hear each other. Or they have selective hearing so they don’t hear each other.” Tashana snorted. “Or a mixture of all of the above.”

“Yeah. At least they now understand and will hopefully respect boundaries.” The lack of belief was plain in his tone.

“I don’t care if they respect that for each other. But they sure as hell will mine.” Tashana smacked her fist against the palm of her hand. “I’m done playing nice. They better respect my boundaries. I’m done with the chaos they are doing.”

Tashana heard a sound. With a graceful movement she rolled over then touched the ground in front of her. She raised her one hand palm open straight out. Drawing on her Nefer Guardian powers, Tashana felt the power swell and lashed out. She heard and felt it connect. Then they were alone again.

“That was awesome.” Sanjay chuckled.

“I believe in reinforcement. I did tell them to respect my boundaries. Today’s is I’m off and not to be disturbed.” Tashana stated.

“I know not to mess with you so you don’t have to do reinforcement of boundaries.”

“I’d be gentler with you for my reinforcement of boundaries.” Tashana paused. “Maybe.”

Sanjay chuckled again and kissed her. Tashana leaned into him. She sent another burst of power over his shoulder. Again it hit. The new target left. She figured there would be various people who would test her. They would learn through reinforcement of boundaries.
