Page Notes ~ Reunion Favor

As the elevator rose, she shifted from foot to foot. The doors slid open, and she walked down the hall. She passed her room then stopped before the last door at the end of the hall. Paige took a breath then knocked. She waited then frowned when no one answered. She blew out a breath. She’s hyped herself up to talk to him and now he wasn’t there. Turning she stopped at the sound of the door opening. She faced the door and him. He was the same friend she had known for so many years. Paige replayed in her head what she wanted to say then spoke.

“We can date and all that other stuff but technically we know each other so well already that’s secondary.” She stepped closer. “You’re my friend Chase and that will never change.” She bit her lip then blurted out. “But although I didn’t want to ever give it a thought since I didn’t think it would ever happen. I want you.” She exhaled. “I want you and all the other dating and stuff I’m up too.” She moved closer. “But I don’t want to wait to have you, Chase. Have you on the closest horizontal surface or hell on a wall or anything.”

Paige stared into those pale grey eyes and couldn’t believe what she had just said. She meant every word but hadn’t planned to say any of that. Chase’s eyes darkened, and he smiled. The devilish quirk of his lips made her breath catch, pulse race and her nipples hard.

“I’m usually the blunt one.” Chase smirked. “So, how do you want me? Bed, floor, wall or someway else?”

Paige’s mind raced with all the possibilities. She moved closer and pulled him to her. He lowered his head, and she met him. She kissed him sweeping her tongue into his mouth and claiming him as hers.

Page Notes ~ Stunning Dare

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from Stunning Dare, Impulse, Book # 13. Enjoy.

Chailyn laughed and wiggled in her seat smirking.

“Then you should lose more so you can get some.” The man on her other side spoke.

With ruthless will she controlled her shiver at the sound of that deep sensual baritone voice. Chailyn took a quick breath before she looked at him. He stared at her with those intense light gray eyes. He lowered his curly lashes shielding his eyes from view briefly. A slight smile curled his full lips that looked so very soft. His red hair surrounded a face that should be deemed dangerous to the libido.

“I’m very humble unlike some people.” She said looking at him deliberately.

He chuckled then retorted. “I’m humble when it suits me. Other times not so much. But for you I’d be so many things.”

Chailyn’s breath caught. There was no way he could be flirting with her in front of her family members that was here, and their friends. Lately everything sounded like an innuendo whenever he spoke with her. If she didn’t know him so well, she would swear he was doing it deliberately. She narrowed her eyes. His smile widened.

She lowered her voice so the others talking around the table wouldn’t hear. “Now, now Payne you really don’t want to test me with what I would want from you.” She lowered her gaze taking in the dark blue shirt covering those broad shoulders and firm chest before lifting her gaze to his again. “You know they say it’s dangerous to mess with me. I’d heed those warnings.”

His eyes sparked with what she could swear was interest, and he leaned closer. She refused to back up. It wasn’t her style. She leaned in to meet him. His scent filled her senses and she resisted inhaling to take it in.

“You should know better than to challenge a man like that.” He spoke softly and his words resonated. “Especially one who would meet anything you choose to dish out.” He turned his head and he inhaled then groaned. “Why the hell do you always smell so good?”

“My lotion.” She whispered. “It’s coconut and vanilla.”

“I need to buy you a whole bunch of it.” Payne Callahan lowered his tone even more. “So when are you going to stop shying away from this?”

Chailyn stiffened. That confirmed he was indeed flirting with her. There was nothing good that would come from it. She’d known him a long time and knew he was a player with way too many women. She wasn’t about to become another in a long line of women.

“Men are such trouble.”

“Yep.”

She blinked then laughed. “No denial.”

“Nope.” Reuben smiled. “Now I’ve seen you again. I plan to see more of you.”

“It’s not a good idea.” Devlin shook her head. “I’m going home after the benefit in a few weeks.”

“Ok.”

She narrowed her eyes. “Such an easy agreement. Why does that make me suspicious?”

“Because you are a smart woman.” Reuben stared into her eyes. “You’re using location as a block to deny this.”

“This.”

“Come now don’t be coy.” Reuben smiled and he knew it was challenge.

Her eyes narrowed even further and her nostril flared. Yeah she knew what it was.

“Are you gonna run from this? I didn’t think you were that sort of woman?”

“You don’t know what sort of woman I am.” She said softly and her tone was deadly.

“Your accent comes out even more when you’re pissed.” Reuben smiled.

Page Notes ~ Holiday Distraction

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from Holiday Distraction, Rowan, Book #13. Enjoy.

“There you go being all intuitive and stuff. You’re going to make someone a good boyfriend one day.”

“Your boyfriend.” He stated firmly.

“So that’s what you are huh?” She smirked. “No dating and so on first. Not even a little foreplay.”

“We’ve been doing foreplay for a lot of years. Although we have been friends for a long time there has always been something’s there simmering even though we didn’t face it. Or ignored it. Until we could no longer resist.” Dexter studied her. “This is just the next step.”

“You don’t say a lot. But when you communicate you do it so well.” Kelsey took a shuddering breath. “You’re making me regret leaving you.”

“What happened to foreplay? i.e. dating first.” Dexter slid down deeper under the covers.

“Fine will do the whole dating thing… with a lot of kissing then touching. Before we decide if we want to take this to another level.” Kelsey wiggled her eyebrows.

“We’ll see who lasts the longest to resist the distraction.” Dexter winked.

“Ohhh… did I just hear a challenge?” Kelsey smirked. “You’re on. Do your best to distract me and make me give in. “

Dexter resisted the urge to adjust his erection. He loved this side of Kelsey. The daredevil whose competitive nature made her oh so irresistible.

“I will.”

“God, when did your voice get all deep and attempting and stuff,” Kelsey leaned closer to the phone, “talk to me and keep that voice.”

Dexter laughed. “This is going to be way easier than I thought it would be.”

Kelsey rolled her eyes. “You wish.”

“So, fill me in what has been going on with you since stuff started going weird with us.”

It was one of the things he missed with her they had shared a lot. Talked about everything and just been. Although Kelsey was closer friends with his brother, Dalton and they had met each other first. She and Dexter had a different relationship that was also very close.

“That’s going to take more than one night.”

“We have a lot of time.” Dexter smiled. “I don’t plan on letting you go anywhere anytime soon.”

Kelsey returned his smile and settled in and started to fill him in.

“Please tell me you’re not one of those.”

“Those.” He dipped the roller in the paint and noted they had went with a warm yellow color.

“The hardware or home improvement store junkies.”

She sounded so aghast he had to stifle a laugh. “Maybe.” He looked at her. “Is that a deal breaker.”

“For what.”

He tsked. “Come now don’t do that.”

“What?” She gave him a look that was way to innocent to be true.

“You’re messing with me.” Baldwin stared at her.

There was a twinkle in her eyes. “Of course. You looked all serious.” She bumped shoulders with him. “I’m thinking that’s a regular thing with you.”

“Maybe.” Baldwin wasn’t about to outright admit he’d been called intense.

He focused on painting the wall while still looking at her from time to time.

“Definitely.” She sobered then stared into his eyes. The intensity in her golden gaze was disconcerting.

“What?”

“I’m gonna figure out what makes you tick.” She shrugged then picked up her own roller and started to paint.

“That’s good.” He leaned closer. “We’re gonna have to go on dates. All in the name of research of course.”

“Of course.” She chuckled. “Gotta watch you, you’re a slick one who just backed me into dating you. Very smart, Mister MD.”

“Baldwin.”

“Baldwin.” She said.

The sound of his name in that slightly lyrical accent of hers made him hard.

“And we’re not together.” She glanced down deliberately at where he held her. “No matter that you’re holding me like you are.”

“So you’re not through running yet.” Nicolas grinned. “I love the chase.”

“And I prefer not to be chased so…” She pulled away from him. “I’m going to go over there and you’re going stay here.” She stepped back.

Nicolas let her, his smile widening.

Violet stopped while cocking her head to the side. “What?”

“You assume I wanted to be the one doing the chasing.” He gazed into her eyes and noted they’d darkened. “In this case, I’m going to enjoy being chased by you.”

“Humph…not happening.” Violet turned and strolled away.

The sway of her hips made him clench his fists. He imagined turning her to him bringing her close as he cupped her round ass, pulling her into him and kissing her senseless. “It’s going to happen sooner than you think,” he called after her.

Violet glanced back at him over her shoulder. “You wish.”

“I know,” he retorted.

She rolled her eyes and chuckled. “Arrogant man.”

“Confidence…And you enjoy it.”

“Maybe.” She snorted. “I enjoy a lot of things. Doesn’t mean I’ll give into them.”

“I’m irresistible.” He winked at her.

“You’re tenacious, I give you that.” She chuckled.

He was and he felt like he was already on his way to making Violet his. When she’d arrived, he’d been the first person she sought out. Even if she didn’t realize it, she was already thinking about there being a them. It would only be a matter of time before she accepted giving them a try. He knew he was really going to enjoy being chased by Violet.

Half an hour later she returned to the bedroom. She smoothed the nightdress she wore. Zachary was already there and under the covers. As was the usual he had cleaned up in the spare bedroom. She went to the right side and he lifted the covers. Tyler slid in facing him. Zachary smiled and there was a glint in his eye she couldn’t define.

“What?”

“You’re so cute.”

She scowled. Zachary chuckled. She stuck out her tongue. He just laughed harder.

“Delegated to cute. No wonder we haven’t done anything but sleep beside each other.”

Zachary sobered. “That’s not why.”

“Then why?”

“I was waiting for you.”

“What?” She frowned. “But I told you from the first night I was interested.”

“And that was the night you lost someone you cared about.” Zachary sounded so reasonable. “I didn’t want to be the regret you had in the morning for doing something while emotional.”

“Emotional.” Tyler repeated.

Zachary smiled. “I can see you’re not liking what I am saying but think about it. That first night you were not in the right frame of mind. Earlier that day you went from not dating or having time for men to drinks and saying it was a date. Then you invited me in to spend night. Woman you could give someone whiplash.”

She thought of it from his point of view. “Ok. I can agree to what you said about the first night. But you’ve been here for over a week and half. So, what about all those other days?”
“I was being a gentleman.”

She stared.

“Don’t look at me like that.” Zachary rolled his eyes. “I was trying to embrace what my mama taught me of being a gentleman. Usually I wouldn’t but did.”

“Why?”

He frowned. “I don’t know. I want you. God, I want you but…”

“Are you planning to be a gentleman for much longer?”

Zachary smiled a slow grin.

Page Notes ~ Surrendering Dare

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from Surrendering Dare, Impulse, Book # 9. Enjoy.

“Are you gonna lurk or say something?” she asked before turning to face him.

Atkins leaned against the open doorway. His lips were quirked in a smile. “Was waiting for you to notice me. Didn’t want to frighten you.”

Sawyer rose and strolled toward him. She stopped a hairsbreadth from him. Atkins didn’t move just stared.

“What are you doing here?” Sawyer rocked on her heels.

“Taking you on a date.” He studied her.

“Unless I have my dates mixed up it’s only Wednesday.” Sawyer licked her lips. “So our date isn’t until Saturday.”

“Your date is on Saturday.” Atkins lowered his thick curly lashes over his golden eyes partial shielding them. “My date is today. Then another maybe tomorrow and the next day.”

“I don’t understand.”

“You like control.” Atkins stepped closer. “I get that. I’m like that too. And Saturday wasn’t only for me to decide to put up or run. It was for you to control our interactions.” His smile was slow and deliberate. “But as you know from the way I am with work, I like to change stuff up and do the unexpected.” He moved even closer. “So we’re going to have a few dates my way then Saturday you can do you way.”

“And what happens after Saturday?” Sawyer moved to him.

“Figure out how much more money I need to date off from the bet you lost,” Atkins replied.

“I’m thinking each date will be worth a penny.”

“A penny? I don’t know if I should be offended you think a date with me cost so little.” Atkins smiled.

“Money doesn’t get as far as t used too.”

“Or you are trying to stretch it so we have a whole lot of dates.” Atkins smiled. “I can go for that. But now I’m curious on what I need to do to have a date be worth more than a penny.”

“Try some stuff and I’ll let you know.” Sawyer inhaled enjoying the scent she thought of as his—vanilla and musk.

“Now you should know better than challenging a man like that.” Atkins shook his head. “Come on woman, let’s go get some dinner. And if you’re good we might even take a walk afterward.”

“I don’t like walks and all that romantic shit,” Sawyer protested.

“I do, so suck it up.” Atkins gestured. “Get your stuff and let’s go.”

She went for her stuff grumbling. “Bossy man. Why do I have to do that romantic stuff?”

“Because I want to. And this is my date. On your date, we can do unromantic stuff.”

“Good.” She picked up her messenger bag and went back to join him.

Atkins took her hand and led her out into the hall.

“We need to hold hands too.” Sawyer sighed. “This is really becoming a pain in the ass.”

“And they call me grumpy.” Atkins shook his head. “Yes, we’re holding hands. Yes, I will hold open the door for you. Yes, I will pay for dinner. Yes, we’ll will go for a walk afterward. Yes, I will take you home and walk you to the door. Then yes, I may kiss you.”

“There will be a kiss at the end. Now for that I can put up with all the rest.” Sawyer squeezed his hand and jumped up and down.

“It’s amazing you’re so excited about the end of the date and not the rest.”

“Hello…kissing is at the end.” Sawyer looked at him. “We could skip the rest and head for the end.”

“Nope. I want all the rest first.” Atkins glared. “Now hush as I try to show you I’m romantic.”

“Why?” Sawyer didn’t expect that from him.

“Isn’t that what women expect? Romance.” Atkins stopped at the elevator and he looked genuinely baffled.

“Some women do. Probably all in some form or other. But romance doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone.” Sawyer pressed the button of the elevator. “Shouldn’t you find out what I like and consider that.”

“Hmmm…” Atkins mulled it over and they got in. As the doors closed her turned to her resting his shoulder against the wall. “Makes sense. So what do you consider romantic?”

“Ummm…” Sawyer had no idea.

Page Notes ~ Unexpected Love

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from Unexpected Love, Rowan, Book #9. Enjoy.

“A woman. You hired a woman to protect me.” He put his hands on his waist and shook his head.

Anger filled her but she didn’t let it show. She made her expression maintain the calm unruffled amusement. Glancing at those sitting on the couch, she noted they looked sad. She had no idea why but was about to deal with this. She’d had clients all over the world but was curious on how they’d picked BNPU even though they were based in Rowan.

“Leave us.” She said in an amused voice.

The men and woman looked at each then their grins widened. They stood and went around the man. The man turned his eyes were narrowed.

“Where are you all going?” He demanded, Irish thick in his voice.

The woman who was facing her went to answer. Khandi shook her head. The woman studied her a moment then nodded and continued to pass her without a word. The men each nodded to her also and followed behind the woman. Khandi waited until she heard the door click close behind her. She met gazes with the man. His eyes had deepened to a darker stormy hazel green.

“Nice trick, clearing the room like that. My brothers and sister usually don’t follow orders well. As you can see from your being here.” He said.

“Which bothers you more; me being a bodyguard or a woman?” She asked.

He blinked at her mild tone. Khandi held the calm unruffled amused expression. He studied her intently. The scowl on his face smoothed out and he looked amused.

“Does that your being unreasonable tone and if you mess with me I’ll kick your ass work with people?”

Khandi was shocked he had picked up on it. Most people took her at face value. She was good at making them. She observed him with a new awareness. He saw more than most people. She would have to be on her toes around him.

“Usually.” Her reply was delivered in a mild tone.

He blinked. “Blunt aren’t you.”

“Yes. Works better than diplomacy.”

“I like blunt. I don’t want you here.” He stated firmly.

“You don’t have a choice.” She mimicked his tone.

He frowned and crossed his arms over his chest. He used his several inches over her to look down at her. It was a new feeling for her. She was six-one and usually met people eye to eye or towered over them. He was trying to intimidate her. She stifled a sigh. He would learn she wasn’t easily intimated. Yeah this was definitely going to be a pain in the ass.

“Does that I’m lord and master pose usually work on people?” She asked using a form of his own words for her purpose.

“Usually. But no one called me on it before.” He looked sheepish.

Then he smiled endearingly knocking her for a loop. Her heart pounded and palms got sweaty. She was barely able to resist the arrogant jerk. Now the glimpse of the softer man beneath the façade made it harder to not give in to temptation.

Pull it together, Khandi. He’s a charge. Who from the looks of things, will be a handful.

You know you want to grab a handful of that ass. The wild side interjected.

Stop it. Professional. We are gonna be professional. The rational side stated.

“What is going on in that brain of yours?” He asked.

She snapped out of it and gave him a cool look. “You didn’t answer my question. Which bothers you more, me being a bodyguard or a woman?”

He answered without hesitation. “Both.”

Khandi blinked surprised. Usually when she pressed someone on making an issue of her being a woman they tried to pretty it up. Be politically correct. She preferred the truth.

“Blunt. I like too.” She paused then continued. “To bad you’ve got both a woman and bodyguard and will have to deal. I’ll be moved in by the end of the day.” She turned and walked away.

“Hey, I don’t want you here. You’re fired.”

“As I said already too bad. You didn’t hire me. See you later honey pie.” She couldn’t resist.

Page Notes ~ Unpredictable Dare

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from Unpredictable Dare, Impulse, Book # 7. Enjoy.

Even as she said it Nolan knew why. She felt him. But that was impossible. Terri turned away and she looked at the men around her. Then she picked one and went to him. In moments the man was lost in dancing with Terri. Nolan shook her head. The guy had no clue. Terri would dance with him but she was as leery as Nolan was. Hell leerier.

He was at her back and Nolan didn’t turn. Instead she moved until she was pressed against him. She danced and Alec placed his hands on her hips and matched her move for move. Closing her eyes Nolan let herself get lost in the music. Alec’s scent filled her senses. He moved his hand and placed it over her stomach. Nolan clenched her thighs together heat flooding her. She bit her lips stifling a moan. Alec pressed against her back was such a temptation.

She turned whimpering as his hand trailed along her hip then settled on the small of her back. Lifting her head slightly she met his gaze. Alec lids were slightly hooded. Nolan placed her hands on his shoulders moving them up his silky shirt to the sides of his neck. She laced her fingers together behind his head. They moved to the side then back and against each other. Nolan breathed in and out enjoying the dance.

Alec lowered his head and put his face beside her ear. “You light up when you dance.” He lowered his voice. “When you’re ready, I am.”

Alec lifted his hands and removed hers from around his neck. He stepped back pivoted on his heels then walked away. Nolan watched him. She was really getting tired of seeing his back as he left.
