Genre: Contemporary
Series: Intentions
Length: Page Brief

Iona hurried into the house. She hated being late especially when she had plans with Jackson. They had both been so busy they hadn’t been able to spend much alone time. As she opened the door she cocked her head she noted the quite. Frowning she wondered where Jackson was. She had seen his car outside.

She closed the door put down her things before slipping off her shoes then heading into the house. The downstairs lights were off but she saw a faint light upstairs. Iona headed up the steps then made a right going down the hall. The bedroom door was partially closed and a low light spilled out. She went to it and pushed open the door. Iona stepped in then stopped as she spotted Jackson sprawled on the bed. He was sleeping. She smiled softly. Iona backed out the room then went to the bath and cleaned up then changed into something more comfortable. Soon she returned and then slid into the bed beside him.

Jackson jerked awake and stared at her. “Shit…sorry I fell asleep. I’ll go get ready the—“

“Shhh…I’m all comfortable and you’re all comfy to.” Iona slid closer to him and slid her leg between his. “Let’s change plans and instead of going out just have a quite night at home.”

Jackson smiled. “Sounds good to me.” He kissed her. “Binge watch Netflix?”

“Yup.” She snuggled in. “After a nap.”

“I can do a nap.” He placed his hand on her ass pulling her close.

Iona rested her head on his chest. She listened to his heart and couldn’t think of a better way to spend some time together. Just being together.

Page Notes ~ Wicked Burn

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from a book from my backlist. Enjoy.

“Why are you telling me this now?” Yasmine swung her head toward him and stood, her chair crashing behind her.

“No matter what happens, I wanted you to know.” Sedeo smiled regretfully.

“Thanks so much, Mister Parker, for sharing with me. It makes me feel so much better.” She didn’t even try to keep the sarcasm from her voice.

She crossed her arms across her breasts, holding herself. The sadness on his face made her throat ache.

“I never meant to hurt you, Yasmine,” he stated quietly.

“I know, Sedeo. I know,” she replied, now suddenly fatigued beyond reason.

She knew he hadn’t meant to rip her apart one word at a time. She wanted to rail at him and destroy him in return, but she couldn’t. Despite it all, she knew he was a fair and good man. The look of uncertainty and sorrow on his face hit her like a punch to the gut.

How is it possible he is the one hurting me, and I want to comfort him? She quashed the feeling and smiled gently.

“It’s all right, Sedeo. Take She–” She cleared her throat, then continued. “Take Shelby and go home.”

He studied her. Yasmine kept her face blank and steady.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to deal with your job, Yasmine. I can’t promise I’ll come back, but I do love you.” Sedeo smiled softly.

A shaft of pain cut off her breath. She nodded abruptly. Sedeo sighed and started to reach for her. He stopped before he touched her, then turned and left the room. Yasmine stumbled back against the table. She heard his murmur to Shelby, but wasn’t sure what he said. The sound of running feet made her straighten and put on a smile. Shelby ran into the room and straight for her. She bent and caught her, lifting her up.

“Yas, we’re going home. But I’ll see ya soon, okay?” Shelby said.

Yasmine swallowed the lump in her throat, then spoke. “Bye, Miss Shelby.”

She hugged the little girl she wasn’t sure she would ever see again tight. A sensation of being watched filled her. She glanced beyond Shelby’s shoulder at Sedeo. He was solemn.

“Come on, sweetie. I’ll walk you to the door.” She walked across the room with her.

Sedeo stepped back out of the way. She continued down the hall and to the front door. Silently, Sedeo opened the door and took Shelby from her. Yasmine fought with herself not to hold onto her. She let her go. Sedeo’s hand brushed hers, and she stiffened, jerking away. Sedeo caught her hand with his. Yasmine looked up at him. His whiskey gaze glittered with tears. He opened his mouth to speak.

“Don’t,” she said.

He squeezed her hand and let her go. He raised Shelby higher, turned, and left. Yasmine closed the door behind him. Gripping the knob, she rested her forehead against the door.

“I love you, too,” she whispered to the empty room.

She raised her head, then pounded her fist against the door. A harsh sound came from her. She dropped to her knees, and tears burned her eyes. Turning, she slid down the door, then pulled her legs up and curled her arms around them, resting her cheek against her upraised knees. The wetness of her tears drenched her skin. A brush of fur startled her. She looked up. Rufus whined and licked her. Yasmine let out a ragged sound. Pulling him close, she lay down and curled around him as the tears flowed. Rufus nuzzled her and kept guard as she mourned.

Rainy Flight

A Wilde Series Page Brief
By: McKenna Jeffries
January 2017
Genre: Paranormal

 Series: Wilde

Length: Page Brief

Remy stood feet braced apart staring out into the night. Being on the rooftop of the building afforded him a place to think. He really missed Mia. She’s been away for a few weeks on business and this time due to his own obligations he didn’t get to go with her.

Get over it Remy she’s going to be gone for at least another two weeks. Remy started thinking of ways to rearrange his schedule to be with her.

“Another rooftop.” A sexy voice so familiar and dear spoke behind him.

Remy turned startled to see her as if he conjured her up.

“Mia.” He breathed out. “How did you get here and I not feel you?

“Seems like someone has been moping about.” Mia strolled toward him that sexy strut of hers making him want her so much.

“So that someone’s brothers decided to come get me.” Mia smiled. “As a surprise. They cloaked me and flew me here.”

“Which one?” He walked toward her drawn to the woman who was his heart, soul and very breath. His other being settled as its mate was there.

“All of them had a hand in it.” Mia came to stand before him. “But Dubrinsky brought me.”

“Although I want to thank him.” Remy pulled her close. “I also want to smash his face in for flying with you. You only fly with me.” He lowered his head and inhaled her scent deeply then growled.

“Oh lord. Stop being all possessive.” Mia put her hands on his neck. “When I fly with you it’s something deeper.”

“So you like flying with me.” He smirked.

“Duh…you sound like Goliath from the Gargoyles cartoons. “ She shivered. “And you are a real life Gargoyle to. One I happen to be married to.”

“That’s the human term for it. The right term is Garlven.” Remy pointed out.

“I know.” Mia smirked. “I just love to see what my calling it by the human term does to you.”

“So you like making my eye twitch and voice get all growly.”

“And I repeat. Duh…” She laughed.

The soft drops of rain fell. Remy lifted his face to it. He let his wings flare then placed his hands on her hips. He lowered his wings shielding her from the rain.

Mia burrowed into his embrace. “I missed you Remy.”

“Ditto.” He replied using one of her favorite terms.

Mia chuckled again then sobered starting at him. “Let’s fly.”

As soon as she said the words he shielded her from the rain then unfurled his wings and lifted them. The sound of the air moving with his wings filled the air and he shot straight up into the New York night. Mia joyous laughter filled the rainy night around them.

Page Notes ~ Metamorphosis

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from a book from my backlist. Enjoy.

Allison snatched up the book and turned, flinging it.

The second Allison flung it, she regretted it. Richard’s hand flashed up, and he caught it before it could hit his nose. He slowly lowered the book. Allison gulped at the look in his eyes. Richard advanced. She backed up, hitting the table. Allison moved around it.

“Umm…Richard. I know I shouldn’t have thrown the book. But, you made me mad. Wait…this is all your fault.” She stopped, standing her ground.

“Like my scent agitates you,” he said silky.

“Yes,” she whispered.

Richard paused, a hairsbreadth away. A sensation of being hunted filled Allison. She backed away. His hand flashed out and gripped her arm. Richard looked down her body. Allison gasped as her nipples went hard and her pussy clenched. He raised his indigo gaze. His eyes flashed with ice then fire.

“Your scent aggravates me, too, Allison,” Richard said in a purr.

Allison glared. “Liar. Everything aggravates you.”

Richard shook his head. “No. Just you. From the time we met, you have mouthed off to me, annoying me and basically pissing me off.”

Allison’s eyes narrowed. “That’s just your boorish ways.”

“Your scent aggravates me, Allison. But…I’ll be damned if I don’t like it.”

He yanked her against his body. Allison gasped. Richard closed his lips over hers, sliding his tongue between her lips. She gripped his shoulders, moaning. He lifted her, kissing her, ravishing her senses. Each stroke of his tongue in her mouth drove her into a frenzy. His hands slid, cupping her ass as he pulled her against him. Allison widened her legs, putting them around his hips. She groaned as his heated length pressed against the crotch of her jeans. Rocking, she wished they were bare.

A tingle coated her skin then air touched it. Allison wrenched her lips away from his.
“How… What?”

“Shut up,” he growled.

“How rude,” she said.

“Yes.” He kissed her again.

A Rules of Attraction Series Page Brief
By: McKenna Jeffries
January 2017
Genre: Contemporary
Series: Rules of Attraction
Length: Page Brief

Garrick entered the house closing the door behind him. “Bailey.” He called and waited for an answer.

When none came he frowned. As far as he knew she was supposed to be home already. Hearing a sound he headed for the kitchen. When he arrived in the doorway he stopped. Bailey had her back to him as she wiggled her body then made an sultry sound. Knowing that sound he instantly went hard.

“Bailey.” He said again.

She didn’t reply. He frowned. Garrick approached her.

“Oh my God, it’s raspberry.” Bailey whimpered.

As he got closer he spotted what she had. A pastry made by her friend. He touched her shoulder. Bailey shrieked then turned and punched out and flipped him over her hip.

Ah…shit not again. Garrick hit the ground and his teeth clacked together.

Bailey lowered herself and drove her fist down. She stopped just before his face then blinked as she looked at him.

Garrick lifted an eyebrow.

Bailey pulled out the ear bud and smiled at him sheepishly. “Hey…I didn’t hear you come in.”

“We can tell no one about this.” Garrick rolled his eyes. “I’m just finally making people forget about the last time you put me on my ass.” He glanced toward where the pastries were on the counter. “If I recall pastry was involved then too.”

“It was.” Bailey laughed. “You really need to stop sneaking up on me.”

“I came in called out to you.” Garrick said. “That’s not sneaking.”

“I didn’t hear you because of the ear buds.” Bailey knelt and placed her hand on his chest. “Are you ok?”

“I’m going to need some Epsom Salt to soak.” He glared at her playfully. “A wild woman attacked me to defend her pastry.”

You should know better than getting between a woman and her pastries.’ Bailey laughed again. She leaned over and kissed him gently.

He opened and returned it.

“What the hell are you doing on the floor?” A familiar masculine voice asked.

Garrick groaned as he heard it. He forgotten he’d invited Tyr over. Bailey pulled back and laughed.

Garrick sat up. “I slipped on a banana peel.”

“I don’t see any.” Tyr shook his head. “Bailey you really need to stop throwing the man on the floor. Or at least make sure someone is around so we can get pictures as proof.”

“Next time I promise.” Bailey rose and went to Tyr hugging him.

“Hey…wait how the hell did you get into my house?” Garrick rose and stifled a groan.

“Indigo let me in.” Tyr replied.

“I didn’t know she was here.”

“She’s in the media room.” Bailey said. “I was making some tea and getting the pastries she brought.” Bailey smiled sheepishly. “I got distracted.”

“By eating them.” Garrick went to her and teased. He pulled her from Tyr.

“And putting you on your ass.”Tyr retorted then laughed. “Wait until the crew hears this one.” He left the kitchen laughing.

“I—“

Bailey kissed him. Garrick returned it and tasting the raspberry and chocolate he was reminded of how they meet. At least this time he got to taste the yummy pastry. It didn’t taste as good as kissing Bailey did. He held her close.

Page Notes ~ Beyond the Unexpected

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from a book from my backlist. Enjoy.

Steps came to him, and a hand touched his back. Marcus stilled a shudder. He prayed for control not to kiss her.

“We have a book to finish,” she said.

He glanced at her as she held up his reader.

“I wondered where you put it. Am I going to get it back anytime soon?” He quirked a brow.

“I’ll think about it.” Rayne smirked.

Marcus chuckled. Rayne gestured for him to get comfortable on the window seat. He sat on the plush cushion.

“Lean back,” Rayne said.

He did and spread his thighs. Rayne joined him, settling between his legs, her back against his chest. Marcus breathed in the scent of her.  Almonds and peaches filled his senses. Rayne turned on the reader and picked up where she had left off. Absently, he listened to her. They were so comfortable with each other. The easy familiarity was like nothing he had ever had with another woman, even those who he had slept with or been in a relationship. Yet, here he was with a woman in his arms he hadn’t even kissed. And it felt as if they had been together forever and had gotten to know each other.

Stop being fanciful. Solve what’s going on with Rayne. Then you can possibly think of pursuing this chemistry.

Marcus glanced at her in his arms. He already knew once they tracked down who was trying to kill her, he would take steps to make her his.  Rayne shifted her pert ass, pressing against his member. His cock went rock hard. She paused briefly, then continued. Marcus inhaled deeply, the scent of her making him want her. Will power.

Will power, Marcus. You can do this.

The Game
A Sultry Nights Series Page Brief
By: McKenna Jeffries
February 2017
Genre: Contemporary
Series: Sultry Nights
Length: Page Brief

Reese blocked Jermaine as he went for the basket. He grunted as they clashed and swiped the ball.  He dribbled backwards then as Jermaine came at him jumped and took the shot. The ball arched then went in and whooshed into the basket.

Reese landed back on his feet then pumped his fist. “Nothing but net.”

“Really.” Jermaine stared at him.

“What?”

“You’re so corny.” Jermaine shook his head. “I don’t know how Jazz puts up with you.”

“I could tell you.” Reese smiled wickedly.

“No.” Jermaine said loudly then in a normal tone. “Dude, that’s my younger sister.”

“Twin sister and only eight minutes apart. And more importantly my future wife.” Reese stared at him. “You do know we have sex right.”

“Now I need bleach for my brain.” Jermaine grimaced. “I don’t know that I don’t want to know. As far as I am concerned you’re both reading books when you spend time together.”

“Books.” Reese blinked.

“Books are good.” Jermaine said. “They are an escape and so much fun.”

“Yeah so is sex.”

“Books.” Jermaine yelled.

He went and got the ball. Jermaine turned and threw it at him. Reese caught it and dribbled it again.

“So you want me to call sex, books.”

“Yes.” Jermaine came and stood before him. “For my sanity. Hell all of her siblings sanity.”

“You all are so weird.” Reese moved.

Jermaine blocked him then countered taking the ball. Reese went after him they battled back and forth for it.

“Ohh…nothing like men playing basketball.” Jasmine said.

Distracted Reese turned to look at her. She stood beside the court in yellow shorts and a tank top.

“In your face.” Jermaine said.

Reese glanced at him and saw him dunk the ball. He rolled his eyes then went over to Jasmine. She met him and they kissed.

“Come on none of that in basketball.” Jermaine said close behind them.

Reese released her and laughed. Jasmine winked.

“How about I play you instead.” Jasmine said to Jermaine.

“It’s been so long do you even remember how.” Jermaine teased.

“Big words.” Jasmine gaze sharpened.

Recognizing that competitive gleam Reese almost felt sorry for Jermaine. Almost.  He went and sat on the sidelines to watch the siblings square off against each other. Jermaine dribbled the ball back and forth laughing.

“Give me a sec.” Jasmine said.

She came to Reese then lowered herself into his lap. She kissed him then pulled back staring into his eyes.

“I’m gonna kick Jermaine’s ass then we’re going home to…”

“Books.” Jermaine yelled.

“Is he still with that?” Jasmine laughed.

“You know about that?”

“Yeah seems like he and the other siblings got together and agreed it would be called books.” Jasmine shook her head. “Crazy fools.”

She rose. “I was bout to say Reese and I would go home and have a nice dinner and quite night.” Jasmine pushed at Jermaine. “Not everything is about sex.”

“Books.” Jermaine said and smiled.

“Such dork.”

“Takes one to know one.” Jermaine chuckled.

“Yeah.” Jasmine stole the ball then made a drive to the basket. She jumped and dunked it.

She landed turned to Jermaine and lifted and eyebrow. “That’s net.”

“Ohhh… so afraid of you.…Not.” Jermaine went to her.

Reese relaxed back and watched one of his best friends and his future wife play basketball.

Page Notes ~ Dangerous Intent

Today’s Page Notes is a little taste from a book from my backlist. Enjoy.

“Although I was told it was more of a simple babysitting gig.” He stood keeping an eye on Callie still with her gun on him. “Either use it of put it away.”

“I’m still deciding,” Callie replied. She smiled a devilish grin then sighed. “Damn, it’s so disappointing that I’m not going to get to shoot anyone.”

“You shot her.” Darryl pointed to the woman who was lying on the floor.

Like the man she hadn’t made a sound when shot and stabbed. She was glaring at them both. Darryl went over to her and flipped her over putting the zip ties on her then seating her before them.

“Yeah but that wasn’t any fun.”

He glanced at Callie. She winked then lowered her gun she lifted her dress and slid her gun into her thigh holster. Darryl stared at the expanse of leg and the gun lying against it. He willed himself to not get hard. This was neither the time nor place. A sultry chuckle drew his gaze to hers. The knowing look on her face made him shake his head. She smiled wider and licked her lips.

“Only if you’re lucky.” She deliberately looked down his body. “And I don’t see you as being that.”

“I’ve been known to be.” He smiled slowly.

Callie eyes darkened and her breath hitched.
