When a man who usually gets things his way meets a woman who only accepts her own way, what will happen…

Nicola Holland has fought hard to get where she is. She does not take no for an answer and refuses to back down from any challenge. Frustrated that her attempts to meet with her client were being thwarted, she goes to see him personally. The meeting does not go as she planned. The man she meets is like nothing she expected. His mixture of arrogance, confidence, and charisma is intoxicating to her senses. Yet, as she gets to know him, it is his gentleness that makes her most afraid. She knows that getting involved with him would be foolish, but can she resist? Does she even want to? Nicola decides to do as she has always done–do things her way and let no one stand in her path.

Bradford “Brawich” Chadwick likes his solitude, and people generally leave him be. Yet, from time, the raven-haired beauty comes into his house, and he wants to get up close and personal. Although Nicola is trespassing, she acts like she owns the place and thus seals her fate. No way can he let this self-assured, arrogant, and sexy woman walk away. He is usually underestimated because of the image of lazy self-confidence he portrays, but Nicola sees through all that and challenges him. She might think she has the upper hand and that things are going to be her way. However, Nicola is about to learn that it is always Brawich’s Way.

Middle Ground

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

I tend to go full tilt when I am really into a project. The story follows me in my every moment. Sometimes everything flows so well. The characters and plot work. The words just come and all gel seamlessly. In writing when you reach the middle of a book or as I like to say middle ground you have to keep the story going forward. When I reach the middle ground I know that I need to start thinking of what I will do to get to the final ground – wrap up the story. There is a lot to do between the middle ground and the final ground. Tying up all the lose ends and making sure the story continues to flow to that cumulating point.

That’s where I am now middle ground and working to the final ground. I’m right smack dab in the middle ground of my current work in progress. This story flowed so well and fast I almost missed that I was at middle ground and ready to start my slide into final ground. So now that I became aware of where I was in my book I am planning my steps to my final ground. Ahh… the final ground where you get to say the end and know the story is done. At least until you start editing and revisions. LOL.

So I am off to continue with my move to final ground.

Aren Van der Ness has been away from Savoy Valley for a few years, but returned at the request of a friend. A man used to being alone, he finds himself inexplicably drawn to the woman he was asked to investigate, Nahia Freeman. From their first meeting, he knows that this woman possesses incredible powers. Can he help her learn to harness them while dealing with his fierce attraction to her?

Nahia Freeman is visiting Savoy Valley, finally finding solitude and escape from the strange dreams that have haunted her and the men who seemed to follow her. All that changes when she meets the tall, golden-brown eyed Aren. The emotions he evokes in her are like nothing she’s ever experienced before, and they send her reeling. Anytime she’s near him, she feels different, as if she’s losing control of something. After deciding to keep her distance from him and his pull on her, Nahia finds that he is apparently the only one who can help her. So, swallowing back her desire for him, she puts her future in his hands.

With the clock ticking down and unsure of what they are up against, will Aren be able to keep her safe by being her guardian? Or will the guardian prove to be the one in need of protection? What will happen because of destiny, or the prophecy that is so much more than either realizes? Can all they know be saved by the Sentinel?

Milestone of the 1st

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

I’ve been thinking of this past year and a few of my 1st milestones.

First book contract.
First publisher.
First editor.
First book published.
First review.

With all these firsts I celebrated these milestones in some way. There are a lot of firsts out there. I still remember my 1st job I had then the 1st paycheck from that job I got. My first day of college. My first day after college when I realized I had to find a career. LOL.

Some of the firsts that made me cry. The first time I held my niece after she was born. She was so tiny and precious Then more of my nieces 1st’s. First step, word and time she ate solid food.

As I mentioned there are many firsts out there. Many milestones of the 1st to celebrate.

Now that I’ve had a few 1st in my writing career and with a New Year approaching I plan to have some 2nd’s and beyond. They are to be celebrated just like 1st’s.

Here’s wishing you a happy new year of many 1st’s and lots of 2nd’s and beyond.

What are some of your 1st’s?
